Hmm...if you have a working copy of the DLC, would you mind uploading it so we can take a look at any differences between it and whatever is floating around the interwebs?

Nah, it IS just about 5 bucks, innit?
On the other hand, paying for additional content to a game I downloaded for free seems a bit like dividing by zero to me Smile

The game still runs like crap in Directx11. So much for the "unfinished code in the demo" excuse.
Bioware is getting lazy. This game doesn't look that good to be choking my system. It's a poorly optimized mess.

Interestingly enough, it runs fine on mine, and my work rig sucks ass(gaming rig blew a PSU yesterday).
E7200@3.16Ghz
4Gig DDR2
1x 5870

can't play anything on it these days without tweaking the settings, and yet, DA2 runs 1920*1080, DX11, very high settings, full AA etc. at 59fps.

Improved graphics my ass.

I sure would want to know how you do it, because I just bought an entire new computer and the game still runs at about 15-20 FPS on DX11 Very High. When I bring it down to High, it goes up to 30-40 but still it's not the kind of performance I should be getting.

So I decided to try the game for shits and grins. I was surprised that on my old shitty computer it runs damn smooth on high, 2xaa, at a measly 1360x768. It doesn't look great but doesn't look terrible. (dx9 of course, 9800gtx+ so no dx11 for me. Smile )

That being said, I'm not terribly impressed with the game. Seems to be pretty mindless. I picked a mage to start with. And it seemed fine even though it's all linear so far. Every fight seems to follow the formula 1) see something ahead on ground or an obvious choke point. 2) enemies come from the front. Fighters rush up to meet them. Mages keep their distance. 3) enemies come up from behind. 4) repeat until one side wins.

Then I got to that fucking ogre (once you're playing, not that initial intro sequence). Right away the mage chick (sister?) in my party is killed off in a scripted event. So that leaves a weak level 3 mage and two level 3 fighters to fight the ogre with "over 9000!" HP and hordes of those darkspawn guys.

Had other things to do so I quit after that but having a hard time figuring out what a possible strategy is going to be for me to get by that encounter. I've got a few healing potions but the cooling off period for potions is stupid long. And they script-killed the one character that had healing. So it's three vs. the ogre and something like 15 of those other bastards.

Hard time figuring out mate? The ogre's pretty slow and dumb, dodge him while he kills the darkspawn and then all you need is 2 members left, control the one with the agro and run around while the other member is hitting him .......

Hell, didn't know he would attack the darkspawn. He came straight at me so I figured they were all old school chums. Smile I'll keep that in mind if I give it another go. Honestly though I can't see myself playing this long. Just seems like something is missing. Like the game has no soul. *shrug*

Um, just fyi, all DX10 vid cards run DX11. They just don't offer the exclusive DX11 features. You may be running in DX11 and not knowing it. DX11 does offer performance benefits also which might also be why it performs well for you.

just finished it...
it was oooooookay, combat is definitely more compelling than it was in dragon age, but I was extremely disappointed in the lack of conversation with my followers and the fact that the whole story resides basically in one place as revisiting the same damn caves and area over and oooooooooover again got old sorta fast.

also pulling the sort of cliffhanger ending is sort of annoying too.

How did you login and activate the DLC if you don't own a legit copy of the GAME?

mmm

one high dragon in the third act

I fought another one in the bone pit in act 2 or was it 1? but it definitely wasn't a high dragon, oh and there's another one in the deep roads, but again, not a high one.

- omfg -

1) Install

2) Start game

3) Do the immense complex process of creating your character (1 mouse click, six choices in total) Very Happy

4) First combat: Click the same mouse button a few times in a row and you character do awesome stuff! Win (on hard)

5) Uninstall

----------------------

I think this game wins the "games i have played shortest amount of time before uninstalling" price! GJ BW!

Fucking disgrace. And to see all those sites give this 8+, what a complete joke. But we all know, below 8 and you don't get to review shit ever again !

DA1 was a good start for a rebirth of the old school RPGs. And now we get this, its a slap in the face for anyone who wanted some old school RPG . They just could not leave the cow alone.

Good job. DA2 was made more "welcoming" because Bioware saw people quit DA1 after one hour. Can't wait to see how DA3 turns out with people quitting DA2 in minutes.

Yea im sure its impossible later on.

DA had nothing to do with button mashing, and now this Very Happy Its just a big bad joke.

Its probably the worst butchering of a franchise in recent years.
