Ugh, just had the 'pleasure' of meeting Ancient Rock Wrath. Definetely one of the most retarded bosses ever in history of crpg games. Had to lower difficulty from Hard to Casual to beat him after managed to take way 10% of his health after 5-7mins of fight on Hard.

I did this on nightmare ... 2 hours of my life. I once rand out of potions, and wiped, when he was on around 8-10%. Felt like I had to punch someone to calm down.

The demo felt pretty lackluster to me. The option to pause is still there, but the combat just doesn't seem as satisfying. Of course, that's just the demo and a bunch of things in the menu are locked.

I have the game but I have yet to install it. Maybe this weekend.

Seems like you don't need to fix Sebastian's quest. It does look like I get a 2nd chance to recruite him in the 3rd act in the chantry.

Just don't click the heart icons. Anyone notice how Bioware tries to trick players into having gay sex with the elf in the brothel by keeping a quest icon above his head.

Yeah I know to watch out for the icons. But wtf, I seriously suspect some disgruntled gay developer replaced parts of the script with this shit. They are trying to stealthily get me into bed with these inane fuckers.

Remember, it's not gay when you do it with an elf, them being so effeminate and all. Laughing

Enough is enough. After playing it for 15 hours, I've decided to call it a day and throw this piece of shit to the trash can. I expected this game to be bad, but not THAT bad. Anyway, the flaws have been pointed out more than once in this thread and on proper reviews, so I don't think it's necessary for me to do that. This is my last post in this thread. That is all.

Wouldn't go quite that far, but I sort of agree that if this didn't have the original to live up to people might be enjoying it more. I certainly seem to be enjoying it more than most people in this thread Laughing

Maybe I just have low standards!

One thing I definitely think is helping is playing it on Nightmare, without the challenge it's providing I could see the game being less appealing.

In my opinion, Dragon Age 2 is not typical sequel.

In some ways it got improved, over Origins, in some it got worse, and it others it's just plain different.

BioWare's Mike Laidlaw: A defence of Dragon Age II

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-10-biowares-mike-laidlaw-a-defence-of-dragon-age-ii-interview

Quote:
Eurogamer: What's the mood like out there?

Mike Laidlaw: We're just very happy to see it out. What we're seeing is something not really a surprise to us: we're seeing a bit of polarisation. It's not radical, it's not like people are bursting into open warfare about things, thank god. We knew going into Dragon Age II we were making some changes. I wouldn't necessarily say changes to make it more accessible, but to make it present itself in a different way. We knew it carried some elements of risk. Some people are reacting to that, and it's fine - it's actually good. I'd much rather make a game that challenges people and doesn't just rest on its laurels.

One of the comments on the article I linked:

Quote:
There's damage control, and then there's this - denial.

None of the concerns the community has raised were ever addressed by BioWare. Instead, they kept reiterating points such as "the combat is faster, the tactics remain in place", as though they were trying to convince themselves, rather than their fans. Trying to address disagreeable features in the sequel would get your thread locked or ridiculed by BioWare staff.

"...re-using some of the spaces and coming to them again was certainly one we were careful about and tried to re-use as artfully as we could."

Oh, you mean adding stone walls in doorways and stone debris in passageways? Areas are recycled 1:1, down to a bloody fireplace. Not even lighting is changed.

Excellent points made, imo. Kinda shows up Bioware.

Last time I checked Canada doesn't have freedom of speech as you can be arrested for making fun of retards and gay people and bio-ware is Canadian.

The problem we have today is, we can 'compare', and that applies to everything, not just games Wink

Well i didn't play the first part so i can't compare them to eachother in matter of gameplay or storywise but this game IS exactly the reason why i hate this genre. So freaking dull and gayish. ( like oblivion ) And i really tried to get into this posh but yeah come on and is this autoplay or what and i can't say i'm really attached to the main characters at all lol. How could they mess this up so badly :S:S The only thing i don't complain about are the graphics, i can live with that and the game still runs nice on my 3 years old hardware.

There's been, I would say, more strongly negative reviews appearing on Metacritic than I expected. I'm a little surprised by the 6/10s and they have a fair amount of weight early on. If the Metacritic isn't where we want it to be, and honestly our goal as a studio is to try and aim more for 90(...)

FFS... this metacritic score bullshit again?
Well, the EA mentality has certainly taken over Bioware, it seems.

Unless the sales won't be worse than the ME1 or DA: Origins ones, I don't see anyone quitting. What's pretty strange is the fact that there is no boasting about how many millions copies they've sold since launch.

If the game would've been actually a major hit, we would be seeing already someone from EA saying we've already sold 1 million copies on day one and we wouldn't see Biowarian/EA monkeys trying to explain how great the game is and how people are actually scared of the change in the gameplay.

Also the bans on Bioware forums show that they want to do damage crowd control, EA fully understanding now that the game it's a disaster and if they want to sell it, they need to stop any negative remarks or criticisms adressed towards the game. So they are adopting an aggressive attitude that will end up hurting even more EA (after all Bioware is now only an EA brand, Bioware as we knew it died on the day EA got their paws on them).

Writing is awful and incomparable to DA1, no effort spent on UI art anymore, removed customization of companion characters, reused/remixed music, reused animations, less character customization options, less abilities/skills and longer time to level up, bland boring checklist of quests, less dialog options -- LESS OF EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME.

Major fucking letdown is what this game is. A prime example of a cash cow. So disappointed Sad

After reaching the Deep Roads Expedition, I lost any motivation to continue. I'm bored to death by the incredible amount of cinematics, the copy/pasted levels, the lack of an actual open world, the lack of life in the city, the lack of changes in the world that should follow your actions, the retarded inventory and the fact that my companions can't be equipped as i desire, the retarded relationships between the playable character and the companions, the poor musical score (more like of the lack of it, as the soundtrack is barely noticeable and when kicks in doesn't have any memorable tune). The character customization was reduced to bare minimum, the attributes don't feel like they actually doing much, the skill tree was reduced (though some stuff in that it's good).
Really a rush job and an attempt to milk the franchise with disregard to the fans of the original.

@blackdochia
The game launches in Europe today, if I am not mistaken. They are probably waiting for those sales to make a statement, for a bigger effect Smile

Would be a nice turn if the game sold badly. Perhaps it could make them reconsider their views on what is a quality product. But they could, just as welll, say that it didn't sell well, because DAO was too complex and people didn't like it, so they weren't interested in the sequel Smile
