I currently have 4GB 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 dual channel kit from my previous AMD build. Is there a noticeable difference in performance if I upgrade to lets say 6gb 8-8-8-24 triple channel kit?

Im still using DDR2 but when I go from 4 to 8Gb I do notice that Windows 7 is much snappier. I'm using 4 now because of an rma.

I tried going from 4Gb to 8Gb using corsair memory. Kept crashing, blue screens in win7. Tried everything - changed ram settings in bios-still crashing. I have 4 slots total (2GB * 4slots=8GB Max). I read when you use all 4 slots it takes alot more juice from mobo resulting in some unstable issues. When 8gb was running, I did not notice and difference than 4gb. I returned the 4b and running 4gb right now. I believe 8gb is not worth it.

Sometimes you need to change the voltage settings a bit, and it works...

Depends on what you use your PC for. For normal use 4GB is more than enough.

You won't notice anything unless you got a polluted system. Honestly, I get up to about 3.0-3.2-ish most of the time when I'm working on something. That's typically with 2-3 instances of some IDE open, often some PDFs with specs, Opera with a bunch of tabs and in some cases even Photoshop (depending on what I'm working on), and I never get any sluggishness.

9-9-9-24 2x2GB DDR3-1333 @ 1260 MHz (won't run at 1680 obviously) Smile

I do have my i5-760 running at 4.4 GHz and an SSD, but even at stock or with my mechanical drive (before it started dying anyway) I never experienced anything. Clean system though, no unnecessary bullshit running.
