This RLD 'crack' appears to be no more or less of a crack than the Carbon one of a few weeks ago. neither have done the job by decrypting the exe and associated dlls. Carbon sussed a way to defeat SF at it's own game by abusing the backward compatibility. Rld as they did on Obscure and others waited for the publishers to put out an exe that wasn't encrypted and 'adjusted' it to suit the retail release. Yet one is called a workaround and the other a crack, why?
As far as the game publishers are concerned what Carbon did was far more damaging as their release was within the 'window' where they seek to maximise sales. Once a game has been on the market for several weeks it hardly matters whether it gets cracked or not since most of those that are likely to buy the game have done so.
As far as gamers are concerned the difference is that the unencrypted exe means that trainer makers can now develop cheats. Is that where we are at now? Only playing free games that you can't die in?
Until or if someone comes up with a radically new way of dealing with the new protections PC games scene is strictly crumbs off the table stuff. Time to find a new hobby.

Thats exactly what it is about. Taste. Some may like this. Some may not. I had the chance to play some lately and I thought it was pretty cool. Some people think only GOTY's and games like SC:CT are worth the bandwidth. They miss alot of the good games.

I just posted this above. I love how everyone sits here debating whether or not to download it and if it's good or not while we are wondering WTF is wrong w/ it that it doesn't get past the logos.

[rant] If you want to know about the game, check the links in this thread that some users have been nice enough to post. Stop crapping on this thread w/ all the "is this worth my bandwidth?" and "rld didn't really crack this rls!" BS. [/rant]

I hate the controls in Second Sight...well what do you expect...its a console port Razz

n00bCentral....I had the same problem when I tried the Clone release...I figured it was a result of muckin around with those SF3 disable enable ide etc. (mine froze on me after messing with key configs er settings if I remember correctly.) I decided fuck it, and uninstalled Razz

Just outta curiosity, what card/drivers you using?

I was on a GeForce Ti4400 with not the latest drivers they have now, but the ones before (66.93 I believe). Mayhaps its a driver issue?

Isn't this the game that runs on valves source engine? I thought I heard something like that in some television program, not sure if it was this game though.
Can somebody confirm this?

Yeah it works... There's something wrong with your PC if the game doesn't work for you... Maybe it's drivers, maybe OS... I don't know... All I know is that the RLD release is OK and it works...

If you don't know, how are you saying it's something wrong w/ the computer? BTW, a "PC" is not an "OS." Just a reminder. Smile

The drivers are not a "PC" either, but they are just like the OS a PART of it. Good luck using a computer without any sort of operatingsystem.

if the release works like he said it does, and it does not work on someone's computer then most likely it is because of uncompatible drivers or faulty configuration on that computer.. isn't it? ..

@Zion check your configuration or post it here so we might see what's wrong

I'm just not too convinced that many NFOrce forum members know that computers don't run on magic.

hi, if you have some problem's to run this game, the crick work proper but the game encounter problems with integreated sound card's so if you need to play it, buy an additional sound card, uninstall the integreated remove the registry entrys from on-board sound card and disable it in the bios.

Have fun and remember, if you buy a new game, buy a new computer to play it.

I don't have an integrated sound card though, nor do a lot of other people I know with the 'freezing issue'. So despite what Codemasters say, their is another issue Smile

I'm talking about the demo version btw, which locked on load - not the cracked version which I haven't tested.

A very good suggestion theBugulous, unfortunately I tried that last night with no results - also tried changing sound drivers to KX Project ones. Still no go.

Ah well, I can wait - perhaps it's a Windows Update causing it.
