The game doesn't have a day-night cycle, does it?
I wonder why Crytek wastes resources on real-time global illumination, that (almost) all other console games have pre-rendered, if they don't really use it.

Crytek only creates engines this game is only a tech demo of what they new V3.0 iteration can do

When you say "Don't speak shit!", do you mean "Of course it makes proper use of GI" or "Lazy bastards would never properly use it"?

I am actually suprised how great it looks on 360! Its even better in motion. Motion blur was always a good part of Cryengine... smoothing 30fps gameplay. As far (35min in) I am impressed

According to the system requirements, I might actually be able to run Crysis 2 (I've an i5 and HD5750).
However, console wise, I'd normally go for xbox purely for better graphics but ps3 might swing it for me for sound output. Prefer the xbox controller mind you .
On that note, completely off topic, but is there any way to use a x360 controller on a ps3?

Just turned the game on and it says 1.01 is out, install it and it says my game data is corrupt and it'll close the game.
Just reinstalling the game data now, maybe some new protection in 1.01 or something?
Edit: Nope, deleting the gamedata and downloading the patch says the gamedata is corrupt still. Interesting.

Naw, I don't have a JTAGed machine so I didn't want to - possibly - waste one of my few remaining DVD-DLs.

Dude levels are at least 10 times bigger than corridor shooters like COD's and you can beat them in different ways. That not sounds like scripted for me.You have way, way more freedom on Crysis 2, than most shooters.

Patched the game to wave 6 w/ 360 waves patcher (got the old ixtreme 1.6 fw).
I installed the game but it prompted me for an update but failed during the process. WTF???!?
Do you think I need the january update (the 12625 aka the one that fucks you up w/ Black Ops, Halo Reach & shit) or what???
This is pissing me off as I'd like 2 play this bad boy real bad and after a 10hours working day (7/7) I really don't feel like messing around w/ the 3bitchy!
Hints plz!

ohh really I frustrated with Crysis 2 game bugs. Its seems hundreds of bug all over the game. I am now stuck at "assist delta company reach extraction point" stage after the flood. At one point solders are do nothing and stand still.
I saw a 38Mb update is already released. I think its need 3.6 dash. Can any body confirm.

played for a couple of nights now.
at first I thought, this is pretty boring, one level looks like the next.....
wrong! it rocks the further you get into it. nothing like COD, whilst it is pretty linear you can approach things from different approaches.
I'm playing on the PS3, nothing wrong with the gfx for that system, some of the best out there. I've a pretty decent PC setup but I can't stand gaming with PC and mouse anymore. may check this out though.
the guy saying there were no day and night cycles, YES there are and weather effects too.
the guy saying the AI is retarded as you get spotted the instant you remove cloak, you need to get further into the game and buy the upgrades to mask your steps etc.. it all becomes clear.
i think this game will do well.

Pretty soon into the game, when you find the first addon. It's like chapter 2 or so. The first one I found was a silenced Scarab I believe, after some kind of parking garage (can't remember exactly where).

Tap "select", don't hold it, and you'll get the nano suit upgrades menu.

The AI is awful at times. You can shoot someone and 10 yards away, there's another soldier who doesn't seem to notice the sound of gunfire so close and just plods around. Other times, someone will spot you and the whole level knows where you other. And then at times you can shoot someone and make them stumble to the ground... where they get back up and carry on walking as if nothing happened.

Applied the dash update and it's all working fine now (Black Ops won't though... need to flash my drive anyway).
Game's look gorgeous and I love the music (Hans Zimmer isn't innocent for that ). My GF's jaw just dropped down as the prologue ended!!!
Will play more later this week as I'll finally get a day off...
Good job Crytek! Cheers!!!!!
