difference is that crysis was actually a fun solid game. crysis 2 on the other hand just really isnt. IF it gets dx11 ill download it, and play it for a bit and see whats changed from the beta, but i dunno if id actually bother finishing it again.

| Code: | -Changed "Press Start to begin" to "Press Enter to begin"
-Remove textfilter from chat by default
-Remove all aim assist from Multiplayer
-Improve USB headset compatibility
-Resolved game login issues
-Display accurate ping in server browser
-Fixed hologram icon staying on screen after hologram is used up
-Fix friends list UI buttons being offset |
btw.: I don't get all the "no dx11? no play!" attitude over here. Did I miss something or does DX11 make the game more enjoyable? Does it increase the abilities in game? Does it make the story any better or increases the personal freedom? WHY is that fucking DX11 so important? Besides tessellation and other MINOR graphical changes there MIGHT be a little performance boost if you have a VERY capable gfx card and they use direct compute properly.

just try to have a look on differences between Stalker CoP with dx9, dx10 and dx11 and you will see. Ok maybe dx11 is not so necessary if you have already the dx10 feature available, BUT if you have no dx10 nor dx11, it will be very hard for developers to satisfy people having bought high range graphic cards.

Because Crytek, wich was originally a GPU tech demo company, made all their games with "cutting edge graphics technology" wich would bazzle the other devs.
They did it back with Farcry 1 (DX9) and Crysis (DX10). So now that they bring no new stunning graphics with DX11 (see where im comming from) people are actually quite dissapointed that Crytek cant live up to its own made standards.

Stalker CoP under dx11 runs better than dx10 and also the visual change from dx90 is quite noticeable, and a as a big fan of the series I would say that it's totally worth it. I am, atm, replaying and role-playing the sh** out of that game, now that also the Complete mode is out.
Also WoW runs BETTER under dx11 than under dx90. ^.^
I guess some dx11 cards owners are sincerely hoping that dx11 will bring, at some point, alongside enhanced GFX, also some performance increase (perhaps in the Pixel Shader 3.0 / dx90c mode iirc) in their favorite games.

Ofc, if you don't fit in the above categories, dx11 might be quite useless for you, and I would totally understand your point of view.

what dont you understand? the game is shit, the only thing it has going for it is the eyecandy. if the visuals are gimped, and wont be that much more impressive than the beta, then why bother getting it?
i already have, and have finished, the beta. if the game isnt looking the BEST it possibly can, theres just frankly no reason for me to bother with it. |

Honestly me too, can't wait to play it. Im the one of the people who whavent even tried beta so it's kinda unknown to me, campaign and all of that..

I'm ambivalent about it. Probably check out the extended demo for the campaign, but I'm not really fussed either way. Tried the PS3 version and it was painful. Painful to look at and painful to control... so I'll just wait for the PC one. >_>

I am very much looking forward to play this, because I liked what I sampled from the leak, but I don't plan to buy it until it's < 20 euros.

20€ was what I paid for the first one, so for this one... 10€.

indeed. i remember playing the mp demo for the first game. fucking LOVED IT! had so much fun, PREORDERED!
was awesome for the first couple of weeks. then the hackers moved in, turned it all to shit, and crytek shrugged and said meh, put up its hands and said 'not our problem'...
and that was the end of any remaining respect and admiration I had for crytek.
they are AWESOME at the hype. fucking terrible at the follow-through.
difference this time around, is that a: pc is even LESS important to them now, b: the game is actually pretty crap where as crysis actually turned out quite good, and c: it doesnt even look as pretty as crysis. it looks pretty yes, but it doesnt top crysis's visuals...
basically my point is, beware the shiny demos. i was tricked last time as well, and i regret getting suckered in by the really fun mp demo. beware, is all im saying. beware. |

Again you have clearly no idea wtf you're babbling about really. Minor changes? DX11 has probably the most important changes up till date for DirectX as an API
* Tessellation - the one everybody talks about
* Multithread rendering - the biggest thing yet if the developers take the time to build the engine around it giving a huge performance boost
* Shader model 5 / DirectCompute <- another major improvement over DX9/10
* 16K texture limits <- not used yet asfar as i know but this allowes for much bigger textures imagine a terrain being painted by 1-2 textures instead of textures being tilled all the time
