Would be interesting to see/hear his MP opinions. I'm still considering buying this just for MP because BO and BC2 are getting booring (playtime about 300-350h of each).

I´d get crysis instead, what´s interesting about homefront is 32 players and vehicles.

I've tested Crysis 2 Demo and it just didn't felt that interesting that I would play it for at least 100h. It was like CoD with few more abilities but it just didn't felt interesting enough.

Homefront's MP seems to be much slower which is great alternative after so fast BO.

Edit: Fuck it I bought it from D2D for about 25€. Wink

I tried this game. Uninstalled it after 10 minutes Sad The story is awful imo, the characters are retarded and bland, they constantly try to make me feel sad or angry but they fail. The shooting is the only half decent thing.

Yep, I found myself in the same predicament as you (which one to buy), then I tried Crysis 2 mp, and I ended choosing Homefront mp (even when there was no demo for it), and I can say I don't regret it now, I'm having a lot much more fun than I had with the crysis2 mp demo Razz

So why do you think a proper Reloaded or Skidrow never made it to the scene?

Probably because they could find no way to crack the game without breaking these 'rules' the scene abide by. They are pretty stringent I believe.

Quote:
Standards in the warez scene are defined by groups of people who have been involved in its activities for several years and have established connections to large groups. These people form a committee, which creates drafts for approval of the large groups.[ruleset 1] In organized warez distribution, all releases must follow these predefined standards to become accepted material. The standards committee usually cycles several drafts and finally decides which is best suited for the purpose, and then releases the draft for approval. Once the draft has been e-signed by several bigger groups, it becomes ratified and accepted as the current standard. There are separate standards for each category of releases.

Wiki it for more info.

I managed today to make the game run properly, seems like that poor performance was caused by the DX10 options that the game uses or maybe it was that other thing I changed in the other ini, don't know really. I'll drop what you need to do if others have the same problem that I had:

 Spoiler:

I found those fixes on this site. There are solutions to other problems too there so feel free to look if you have other problems.

Now about the game. I actually kinda' enjoyed it. The problem is that it wants too much to be like CoD which has become a failure of what started with a franchise of 2 great games. It was fun, but very linear and short. I had some high hopes once for this game, but that was a long time ago. I knew that it will not be more than this. I really don't know about the multiplayer because I didn't buy it and I don't plan to because I have no interest in the multiplayer part.

How is cracking this game any different from the million other releases w/ the same drm that didn't break the scene rules?

I have no idea. I'm not part of the scene, I was merely suggesting a possible reason.

To get much bigger FPS without losing any graphical detail try this tweak:

In Steam: Right-click on HomeFront. Click Properties. Click “Set Launch Options”. Enter “-d3d9″ (no quotes). Try again. This will force the game to run in DirectX 9 mode

Try to play Homefront in DirectX 9 instead of the default DirectX:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\homefront\Engine\Conf ig\BaseEngine.ini

Line for DX10 is:
AllowD3D10=True <- change this to False

Fucking UE3 mouse acceleration! Mad

Thankfully I've learned to turn it off.
Played 5 min with the default settings and was just about to shift delete this when I remembered it was probably the default mouse accel.

Nice to see that the guns DO HAVE recoil.

Yeah, the semi-auto one needs to be nerfed. The bolt-action one I feel is fine, though I would like it more without the thermals.

Sure.

input.ini

bEnableMouseSmoothing=false

It was either consolitis or ixigia that came up with it, I think it was in the MoH thread.
Still have to replay a ton of UE3 games because of that.

Not me, for some reason in 90% of the games that have acceleration/smoothing.. I simply don't notice it at all. Idk why you notice it and I don't, but since it doesn't get in my way I don't really care Laughing

The same thing happens to me, maybe it's related to the mouse or the sensitivity setting? I use an aging (but still reliable) Logitech G5 with no weights installed, middle DPI setting and I'm in most cases a low sensitivity gamer.

Yep, the best trick ever when it comes to UE3 powered games, I bet it's a poor attempt to make the mouse movements similar to a gamepad or something like that Razz

Any idea on how to enforce 60hz in the game? Whenever I switch to 1920x1080 it choses 50hz and thanks to the overscan bug in catalyst (THANK YOU ATI FUUUUUUUuuuuu) this adds black borders to the image and shrinks it Sad (oh and it fucks with the colors too!)
