Im not gonna go for dual cards ever again (atleast on ATI). Had 4890s in Crossfire and all the time i had major problems, then i had HD5970 which obviously had all the time problems aswell, then swapped to GTX 480. Has served well (Can still maxout everything, even stereo 3D enabled enjoyable). SLI/Crossfire has their benefits but overall minimum fps is better on single card than dual cards.
Need to see some reviews from 590GTX if its worth it. If not then im gonna probably wait some new single nvidia card. No point for me upragading to GTX 580, difference is so minimal versus to my heavily overclocked 480, pretty much egual (compared to stock GTX 580 ofc)
Anyway gratz for the new cards :>

Cuda / Physx / 3D Vision Support / Nvidia 3DTV play / drivers that actually work /
I am a big supporter of 3D technology and Nvidia clearly has the upper hand on the technology.

You don't use CUDA, not really. PhysX is fucking crap, makes games look ridiculous with the massive particle spam. It doesn't add realism, it doesn't fix shitty ports and in most cases, it doesn't even add anything that can't be done without PhysX. The only game that used it somewhat properly was Cryostasis; that's 1 out of the..12 or so titles that use GPU PhysX. The thing about the drivers is bullshit, well done on pulling the standard NVIDIA fanboy argument without knowing jackshit about anything.
3D I won't comment about, as I haven't been able to try AMD's version yet. That said, I'll care about it when it goes mainstream in terms of hardware, at which point 3DVision and HD3D will cease to exist in their current form.

Werelds I have a setup with 4 monitors and a projector all hooked together to my SLI system, and the Nvidia drivers really work well for me not just for multi screen display but for easy conversion to SLI for gaming also. I wouldnt consider myself a fanboy because I owned ATI cards before and would ultimately always get disappointed. In any case I as a great supporter of 3D technology will remain with nvidia because it is supported in most games now and it just works.
Btw, I can't wait to get my hands on one of those 27 inch 3d monitors
fuck ...

Cheers

A 6970 should be slightly cheaper, with the same performance (slightly faster at higher resolutions). Best value for money is the 6950 though, I still can't recommend a 6970/570 (let alone 580/590/6990 *shiver*) over that card. Ridiculously good for its price.

Well done on pulling the standard AMD fanboy argument of dismissing any driver issues as nonexistent or trolling or fanboyism.
The last few threads here on this board alone are nothing but trolling right? The "best" "argument" I heard on another forum, someone told me that a month after I removed my 4870X2, drivers suddenly became amazing.
100% GPU usage? Oh that's not really a bug in the drivers, you just need to jump through 1000 hoops and modify who knows what and dance around the campfire 10 times to hope the zombie jezus answers and it works. Drivers don't recognize the TV properly or can't add custom resolutions? "This never happened to me on my this and that card so this problem is bullshit and you are trolling "

not a bug, feature.
I'm using ati now but nvidia drivers are better and easier to handle. Don't need a fucking tutorial to install them.
But its not a big deal considering you get more for the money.

You had a dual-GPU card, most 9800GX2 users had the same shit back then. Does that instantly make NVIDIA bad? And I'm not saying the issues don't exist, I'm just saying that it's not worse than it is on NVIDIA. Just sheer dumb luck if you're affected by any of it. I had to roll back a driver TWICE in the barely 4 months that I had my GTX 460 - OMG NOES NVIDIA DRIVERS MUST SUCK because I haven't had to do that *once* with both my 5870 in the 9 months I had that, or the 6950 I've now had for just over 4 months.

That is not happening to everyone, so it's a combination of some software and the driver. We've also already seen even on *this* board that it's not a one-sided bug with the blame lying just with the driver, otherwise all Cypress/Juniper owners would be experiencing it and they're not. And you can add custom resolutions just fine, I did it with the X1250 integrated piece of shit of all chips (HDTV Support -> Add button).
We can go on and on about this, but for every problem I've had with my ATI cards, I've had a problem with my NVIDIA cards as well. And you damn well know that I have constantly gone back and forth between the two sides, and I honestly don't give a flying fuck about which one I have. I can do it too: "100% fan speed after driver update OMG LOLOLOLOL it's a feature, not a bug". Both sides have their issues, period. Anyone claiming that "their" side never does, is full of all kinds of shit and can fuck right off.
NVIDIA drivers do have a more pleasant interface, and I'm sure that for some people the ATI installer is hard (oh noes, clicking more than 2 buttons ), but NVIDIA have had their share of issues just the same. NVIDIA's overclocking in the CP is just as shit as ATI's Overdrive, and both fail to do 1080i properly on a TV (at least both did about 9 months ago, dunno what it's like now).

I've had a lot of GPUs in my short nerdlife, from both companies. While the HW always rules (if you buy the right one), the software (i.e. drivers) suck on both. What I did notice though is that CCC has a noticably longer load time at startup.
As for installing CCC, just download the correct package, hit next all the time and it's done. A donkey should be able to do it.

No. The 78xx/79xx were terrible products entirely; the 8800/9800 cards (G80/G92) use a cheap-ass piece of shit soldering causing a bunch of connections to break. Fixing that is very similar to PS3 reflowing, partially the same cause as well.
What games did not work for you then Breezer? Back with my 9700 I never had any issues, although I can't comment on any of the cards between that and Cypress since I never owned one (apart from the X1250 Xpress thing in my previous HTPC).
