Quote: | We are pretty sure that Crytek will be blaming PC piracy if the PC version sales don’t meet their expectations. Instead of the PC piracy however, Crytek should blame themselves for letting down their PC fanbase and offering them a simple console port that lacks features that made Crysis what it is today. Maximum disappointment! |

That quote is a cringer actually - wtf has piracy got to do with anything? - it's a gratuitous remark. Slate the game by all means but adding self indulgent spin to what they are "sure" crytek will say in the future tells me the reviewer is a total cock.

Yes, because Crytek have never blamed poor sales on piracy in the past... honest... nope.. definitely not.

Tried to get a jump on things this morning but the only three on Usenet were posted by those passwording douche bags. They deliberately leave out the first rar and let par files replace it so you can't check it beforehand. They're getting to be a real problem. I hate those scumbags.

sabin1981 wrote: | I admit the article was a tad more.... umm... antagonistic than it should have been, but going by Crytek's last outing, it's not a far cry (pun not intended) to assume - and I'm aware of what assumption is - that this won't be any different. As consolitis said; DX10 was laughable in Crysis 1, all the "features" could be enabled on DX9. The difference in this case is that it looks like Crysis 2 was built on the 360 and then ported to the PC.
That's just lame, so of course PC gamers are going to be miffed about it. |
I think we're missing the most important thing here, for me it's not the lack of dx10-dx11, or the fact that we get a PC port from crappy consoles. My impression from the reading was that the main idea the author was trying to convey is that, in the end, Crysis is superior to Crysis 2 (PC) in terms of graphics (i.e looks better), which for a franchise that had promoted itself as technologically ground-breaking, should represent sort of a... step backwards?. And to add insult to injury it might no get proper mod support?
But well, in the end is us, pc gamers, who are going to feel "cheated" by this mighty developer company that sold its soul to "derpsoles" and is enjoying it in the form of $$$ or €€€ or whatever currency they love.
Anyway I will have to play the game so I can confirm that all this is true (which most certainly is), so... where the f... is the crack?

Oh, the game IS technologically ground-breaking for, wait for it, waaaaaaaaait for it, CONSOLES!! Taaadaaaaaaaa!!
On the serious note, we have to realise one thing, certain developers decided to focus on consoles market and now it's clear Crytek is one of them. Obviously they created that engine for console purposes and regarding PC, well, I bet it wasn't much of an effort to port it to PC and get some additional money. I feel sorry for people who expected Crysis 2 to be PC game first, and console game second, but sad truth is, it's the other way around.
So, what next PC franchise will be consolized?

The total encryption of files was the last straw. I was excpecting, but I didnt believe they are gonna do this. Unbelievable. I'll make a mod for Crysis just to bash that Camarillo Derparillo and that Cevat Derpsis fucks. This game = no modding/mapping.

What you said is true. And yet it looks better than 95% games on the PC.

Isnt it possible to buy it with steam and then act like you're in the US by using a vpn to play it in europe?
I remember i did this with FalloutNV thanks to a thread here, but i dont remember how to do it. Do any of you, and does it still work?

I'll be happy to judge it myself if it leaks. Yea, I used 'if' and not 'when' on purpose

If steam catch you doing that, you get your account banned. Be very, very careful with VPN's on new releases.

Disabling blur will be the first thing that I'll do, I find it quite unnatural and exaggerate tbh

Aren't the cfg files encrypted? |
Commands work in system.cfg AFAIK

Yep, plus the console has been (re)activated with the first patch, so eventually I'll disable it from there

Well.. there are some bad news from what I've read.. Most commands don't work in the console, only in the system.cfg

Meh..well as long as the good old system.cfg works there shouldn't be any problem (I hope)

meh, not so good at all. Of course, maybe into the game, effects will definitively be better for eyes, but quality in these screenshots seem just average. Hope the game will not be so disappointing, just imagine, BulletStorm having better graphics than Crysis 2, what a joke...^^"
