Im still hoping but this is not helping |
Not a fan of the speed boat handling shown in that vid?

Dunno, it seems like the guy didn't calibrate the steering wheel correctly...the dead-zone looks quite exaggerate to me. (Shift 1 didn't have all this evident delay)

http://www.racesimcentral.com/news/2011/03/final-preview-shift-2-unleashed/
First Bit below
"If you’re a hardcore sim-racer looking for something new to replace perennially entertaining sims like iRacing and rFactor, you might want to just skip this preview and get comfy in your rig until news of Shift 3 comes around. However, for racing fans looking for another fun game to add to the collection, Shift2: Unleashed might be just what you’re looking for. RaceSimCentral was invited to EA’s Shift 2 Community Day for an early preview, so here are a few initial impressions from people who are serious about sim-racing.
Read ahead for the full preview.
Let’s get the nastiness out of the way first. The biggest gripe about Shift was the floaty steering feel connected to the dodgy physics. While S2U is immensely improved—especially in the way understeer and oversteer are transmitted through the wheel – hardcore racers will find the steering wheel support lacking in feel. It’s not a game killer in the eyes of this author, but it does leave you wondering if they’ll patch it down the line.
Another problem is the track modeling. While the graphics are phenomenal (I’ll get to that in a second), they also brag heartily about the accuracy of the tracks. I’d like to temper your expectations just slightly. Just to name a few things that irk nerds like me, the Nurburgring is “softened” throughout, Suzuka’s Turns 1 and 9 are flat when they should be sloped and cambered, the run up to and after the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca doesn’t have enough elevation change, and Mount Panorama (Bathurst) is about twice as wide in the game compared to real life through the hilly bits. Depending on your perspective, these might be significant issues or they could be something completely irrelevant that you won’t notice. Nothing about the track modeling makes them inherently bad, and actually, the extra lane at Bathurst makes the track more racing friendly, which is a good thing, even if a little realism is subtracted. Remember, this game doesn’t claim to be a driving simulator- it’s a racing game. And a certain “real driving simulator” does have its own problems with less-than-perfect track modeling (e.g. Monza)."

Aside from the imperfect track modeling, the preview is very positive. Glad to read that the AI has been substantially improved (Shift's vanilla AI was honestly quite bad) as well as overall graphics and the damage model. Sounds great

I could get over the tracks, the Ai sounds a lot better but i use a G27 and if i cant feel the car im wondering about his comments, would like a whole lot more detail, it doesn't matter whether someone is (hardcore) or not as all using will have to put up with whatever is up with it, ffb or the physics feeding the ffb.
Jesus some of these SMS guys are modders and sim devs, how can they not get wheel and ffb sorted. i didnt expect much from TDU 2 devs but i did expect that SMS could (would) sort it after the last game.
