Did someone just complain about the game being boring and all the while complained about his 360 gamepad not being compatible. Playing strategy games with a gamepad = lol wut , on a pc = What the fuck is wrong with you. Seriously you better hide in the console section we dont want your peasantry here.

Actually Shogun 2 is considered to be the best vanilla TW ever released so far. I guess some games arent for everyone.

that might be true, but considering there are no mod tools, and probably no plan to release them, since there weren't any for empire..

and when comparing shogun 2 to modded medieval 2, its miles and miles apart

I think there are a few mods out there already though. Putting siege AI aside, the game is quite enjoyable.

Total War: SHOGUN 2 Update Released
Quote:
The major changes include:
Multiplayer - Fixed a bug whereby winning a match made battle via the opponent conceding defeat did not register a win statistic or count towards the match made battle victory achievement.
Multiplayer - Fixed a bug that would see The Dishonourable Coward trait from being incorrectly awarded to players. The trait has also been reset for the entire player base.
Multiplayer - Fixed a bug that would see avatar costs incorrectly deducted from funds for a naval battle.
Multiplayer - Fixed instances where players were unable to fully upgrade their General’s Avatar skills.

Yeah, it's a good game, everything seems polished and well-made from the one game I've played, with the exception of some AI issues. Really hope they fire up some mod tools though, some decent mods could really help take it from good to great.

That said, I still think MTW is easily the best vanilla game, and it's still the best even if you include mods.

Is anyone having a problem getting bow units to... you know, attack the people you want them to attack? They'll autofire pretty well at first but the second you try to manage it with any real intelligence they turn around and face backward and maybe run 50 yards in a random direction, anything but fire at the right guys.

Was all set up to defend a ford and these guys failing to master the basics is getting me swamped with spear ashigaru.

Why the fuck do you care about the patch, it lists multiplayer changes only.

@JackArbiter
What do you mean ? If skirmish is enabled, then they automatically retreat when enemies approach.

How's the performance. From what I've heard it's still horrid. I'm willing to give it a try since I loved the original Shogun but I'm not willing to put up with a crappy framerate.

Sometimes I notice it, sometimes I don't. In fact, most of the times, they follow my orders quite well. When I shower his archers with my units, after a bit he gives up and tries to zerg-rush me, and I can easily make my bowmen to change targets and inflict some serious losses before the melee units reach my lines.

But usually near the end of the battles, they kinda get messed up. Getting into all kinds of wrong facings, crazy position shifts, etc. It's either some kind of over-time retardation of the pathfinding AI, or due to the fact that half my units used all their ammo and others didn't, resulting in conflicting orders messing with each other. Well, that's my hypothesis anyways.

The crack is not proper. At least on my computer.
1.For bows, if u right click the enemy, it will move and not attack.
2.Make a group of ur units. Move the group and the previous positions applied. U cant even change it, except lined vertically.

The game doesn’t play most the faction start/victory/defeat videos during the campaign because movie2.pack is corrupt. I unpacked that file and very few of the bink videos could be played. Rechecked with Phoenix, not working.

yup~ checked all 3 (steam, cloned, FLT) versions and non have working intro/ending movies

I found this on some site. Could someone confirm/deny this?

Does it contain the patch data at all or is the movies simply ripped?
(I guess they're ripped unless the patch archives contain that data - I uploaded those earlier but they're probably not needed and the game is already up to date in those releases - so that is probably what that issue is about.)

EDIT: And no I can't upload the movies or rather the .pak archives, movies.pak and movies2.pak as the file-size is in total 5.18 GB so that's likely the reason they've been ripped.
(Game in total is 15.8 GB so without the movies that release would be around ~10GB.)

I use the FLT release, no clan-intro videos, yet the two movie pak files come up with 5 gigs (whole game folder is 15.9 gigs). So it's not ripped, just corrupted.

Also, I suspect there are lots of other cutscenes are missing too. Are there supposed to be little cutscenes for certain random events? I get none, except for bountiful harvest, where I get a little video with haiku over it. And that's the only one, which makes me believe that there are others missing. Same goes for agent actions. I get most, but for example, there is no video for subverting armies with a ninja.

Hmm, does patch_movies.pak exist?
(It's from the release-day patch.)

I'll re-upload the patch data, might be useful to do so anyway with this recent update, apply it and then re-apply the modified .exe or however the various releases work. Smile

EDIT: Done.

Hmm I can't think of anything else then, as you say the recent update shouldn't affect anything since it only uses a patch3.pak archive and re-updates the exe again and it's all MP fixes.

Odd that even so it still does not work, at worst it might be related to the method used to crack the game since it supposedly has various triggers but I know very little about this.

A corrupt .pak would be more problematic since it would need to be replaced, had issues unpacking the SIM/SID data myself initially as Phoenix corrupted some of it but the result was a non-working 4.5 GB folder of various garbage data and since the game itself works it seems unlikely to be the problem.

From my legit Steam version, the MD5's of the two movie files are:

movies.pack - B8E3C799C3FFD8566F4C793A7379E6B4

movies2.pack - 666DFA9E0CC836A5D0E3D11601D25076

If yours are the same, it could be an EXE issue as suggested or maybe an issue with the clan or other game files.

As far as ninja movies go, I only recall seeing them for assassinations and opening castle gates, although I only did the army subversion thing once or twice so I could be wrong. Will try it later and see.

So if someone uploaded their legit movies2.pack file, if we replace ours with the non-corrupted one, it should work, yes?

JackArbiter and zmed that archers glitch it's crack's fault. Not the game.
Same for movies and other more or less important. But yet again people blame the game for stupid reasons as above.
