It's not like Max Payne wasn't originally modeled after and played by the game's writer, Sam Lake

You are probably talking about the in-game 3D model. He was fine in the graphic novel cutscenes.

Well, sure, but the game was a big part. The second MP was perfect for the dramatic stories of MP.

I don't know if it's just nostalgia, but even if it wasn't completely appropriate I loved Max's face in MP1
He had that cool smugface that always put me in a good mood
As for MP3, I'm expecting something like K&L2 with better story/physics..I'm not hyped at all at the moment.

MP1 face was epic, no doubt. He was a smug bastard, but then again, if I went against 300 people, and killed them all, I'd be smug too
I also found this, while surfing the web:

I still think he deserves a shot in a Max Payne movie. |
Well, he would have been completely out of place in the Max Payne movie, because the movie had about as much to do with the games, as I have to do with consoles. Nothing.

I will miss the sharp dialogue
Slice him, dice him, shoot him full of holes, blow him to bits, vaporise him, disinegrate him, no matter what you do, he'll still be back, good as new

Both AC2 and AC:B had several Ubisoft studios working on them and they were pretty damn successful.
