My acer laptop keeps freezing at random times. Sometimes when I startup windows it freezes at the windows logotype screen and I have to do a force reboot on the power button. The strange thing is that I can play games without any problems, like dragon age 2, fallout 3 and so on. The laptop only freezes when I browse the web, listen to music, watch movies... low cpu usage. I have reinstalled win7 64bits, lastest nvidia drivers, sounddrivers and so on. I have also run several memorycheckprograms and they all pass.

Anyone got a clue whats the problem is?

Maybe some fucked up energy settings? Check your bios and disable all CPU downclocking and so on and see if that helps.

Yeah, disable things in BIOS, like Speedstep maybe. See if it helps. Also, see if a newer BIOS revision is out and what it fixes.

Dead battery caused mine to do this. I had to actually pull the battery out and just use plug and no more freezing.

aye I tried to locate that setting in the bios but I cant find it. Its Phoenix SC bios and the settings here are damn poor, they have locked these kind of settings. Tried to upgrade it aswell for more options.. but no... Basiaclly the only thing you can do is to choose the boot priority in the bios =(
