Well, for me I'm not convinced yet.
I want to know more about game play and how "fluid" it is, by that I mean that it doesn't have this derpy shit as BC2 has. Such as there being blatant delays in when you do shit, for example switching from sprint to iron sights (there's a 0.5sec delay before you can even perform an ADS) and switching between stand and crouch and so forth. MoH online suffers the same fate when it comes to that, it's on slowed down on purpose so the console crowd don't feel a bit more handicapable than if they were using a mouse and keyboard. Surprised

it isn't very realistic though, to get up from crouching position in 0.0 seconds or so ? and BF3 is supposed to be more realistic game than Bad Company, so I doubt they'd make it faster.

Realism in all it's glory but it's annoying and invites campers and the over-cautious player type.
Of course I have adapted to it but it's extremely derpy and frustrating to me.
And again, if you want realism then emptying half a clip into someones face isn't that real either, so that argument becomes void that it's done because of realism.

Sad
was hoping for a game that better mimics real movement.. but its the same hold thing.
The character just floats around everything taking 5+ mt dives like nothing.
Its run&gun like every other shooter around.

Either you're trolling or you are looking at the wrong game because the animations of the soldiers is, quite simply, the best I've ever seen in my 10 years of FPS wargames. Utterly incredible visuals, and peerless in the FPS genre.

Maybe you can show a game that looks better than that, with better animation? I'd love to see it.

And I'm saying he's wrong. Get over it.

And I'll repeat, show something better. If you can't, then the point is moot anyway, agreed?

Edit 2: Isn't how soldiers walk/move part of the game mechanic? Rolling Eyes

There's a difference between the walking/moving mechanics and how it looks, i.e. the animations. The former is done by the programmers, while the latter is done by the animators.

like emphasized by others above , I meant the mechanics.
Animations are great.. for a COD game.

I was expecting (hoping) BF3 could introduce a more realistic movement experience.

I cannot name a game that as actual done this wright. They dont even try.
Jumping, running stooping, turning, etc as Zero impact on the players habitability.

Digital Illusions: Consoles are holding PC games back

Quote:
One of the big games of 2011 will be Battlefield 3 and the first person shooter's developer Digital Illusions has made no bones about stating that the PC port of the game will be the lead platform with the console versions being developed around the PC port. In a new interview over at Nvidia's GeForce.com web site, the game's executive producer Patrick Bach believes that consoles are in fact holding the development of PC games back.

He states, "Most games are actually still based on the same core idea that the consoles are your focus, the superior platform or something. I don't know why. That was the truth 5 years ago, but the world has moved on." He says that PCs are much more powerful, hardware wise, than consoles, and few PC games truly take advantage of all that hardware.

He says, "So for our target of what we want to hit, we are now using the more powerful platform to try and prove what we see gaming being in the future rather than using the lowest common denominator, instead of developing it for the consoles and then just adding higher resolution textures and anti-aliasing for the PC version. We're do it the other way around, we start with the highest-end technology that we can come up with and then scale it back to the consoles."

If PC is the lead platform why the hell are they calling it a "PC port"?

It's not ported from anywhere, the console versions aren't even the same.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

These days all versions are called "ports". Don't read too much into it.

All I know is that I want to see some MP gameplay, then I'll decide if this game is worthy of being a sequel to BF2.

they say they don't want to show MP, because it's not ready enough yet. don't want to show features that could maybe get cut later.
so since they are showing SP right now, that must mean it's more ready than MP, right ? And that can't be a good sign... Sad

In the geforce.com interview they use the correct term "version".
The Bigdownload.com guy that wrote a news post for it used the incorrect term "port".

That's vidya game journalism 4 ya Cool Face

I agree, but the way he's talking about the PC version clearly indicates that it's not a usual port in any case.
