Hmm, maybe it is just me? But it seems after playing Rome: Total War that this and Empire Earth 2 are both..just..meh..bad?

Well Rome: Total War is an ammazing great game so if you compare that with other RTS yeah then those suck more. It's like 3D Shooter vs Half Life (1 or 2 you're choose) for most people for me it's vs OPF as that is the best shooter/action game ever made.

I have mounted CD1&CD2 with Deamon and successfully installed it, then tried to launch the game but the "Insert correct cd blah blah..." appeared.
Then I disabled my cd drivers with SFN 1.12 and then the game started :]
Couple of things:
- game successfully updated itself
- CD2 is mounted by choosing SH2_DISC2.BWT
- I have changed the Deamon bus and miniport name, so i don't know if it will work with default names
- I have all emulations set to "off", but with all emulations set to "on" game works too :]
- I didn't use "Anti-Blaxx" (even dunno what it does)
Hope that it will for you too :]
EDIT:
Game runs very smooth (at least training campaign), everything maxed (shaders - 3.0), but without "early culling" - because I dunno wtf is this

I have the SAME problem. This is just ridiculous. All the graphics in the game are screwed. I can't even see what's written on the menu's buttons.
Does anybody have an idea what's wrong?!
Thanks

They did a pisspoor job of playtesting this one thats for sure.
The Peaceful campaign throws too much shit at you at the same time, with only one "correct" way of passing it. Unit movement is too slow for comfort.
Even the freebuild mode just seems "meh", with fires/wolves raping every 2 minutes, no enjoyment in it whatsoever. Not to mention the fact that you can't expand to other providences once you've filled up the current map in freebuild (honor useless).
Haven't played the combat campaign/modes yet...but I imagine its not much better.
Top all of this off with appaling framerates/animations/textures, and you have one sad excuse for a title.
5/10

What I have found about that "Early Culling":
On THG:
http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20020819/radeon9700-18.html
and this on Guru3D forum:
"3D engine won't rending the surface that you can't see to save bandwith and speed up a little bit"
So it looks like it's kind of optimization
EDIT:
X-Bit Labs wrote: |
Z-Occlusion Culling. This method was first introduced in NVIDIA GeForce3. It allows determining if the pixel is visible by its Z-coordinate, before the texturing is done. And if the pixel is invisible in the scene then it will not be processed thus saving time on addressing the frame buffer, Z-buffer and textures. |

Does anyone else think its completely asinine that goods go to the stockpile, regradless of the fact that the building next in line of production is right next to the first producers building? That is complete shit. In Settlers: Heritage of Kings, the production buildings got resources right from the producing building first.
You'd think the game could take into account whats closer, the stockpile or the mill. Stupid game.

No, because you can sell goods too, you also might need to stockpile them, unlike settlers, and it hardly makes any difference really.
It was part of the first game, and it works fine. It's definitely not 'complete shit'.

lol I'm loving this game. Played a kingmaker skirmish.
I have a question though, what does the symbol with red circle and a rope inside it mean over some buildings? Only way to get rid of it is by deleting the building and rebuilding it.

That person turned to crime, build a courthouse, torturers guild, and a CAPITOL PUNISHMENT building (hang em or burn em). Do NOT use stocks/non-capitol punishment unless you must, because it takes way to long to ...rehabilitate the criminal...its better to just kill them.
Theres an eraser at the top left of the interface that deletes things.
Heres a tip for popularity...Always build a travelling fair, and for honor, build a jousting thing.
This games good, but as soon as you create a large army the FPS just dies, to the point where it becomes almost unplayable on many machines.
