I played the first 3 chapters (very little time to play unfortunately) and I must say I much preferred GLADOS attitude in the first game. In portal 1 it pretended to be "friendly" but as the game progressed you could glimpse more and more into her "psyche" as she went back and forth between false promises and veiled threats.
In this game however, she's just plain spiteful an childish, like saying you're fat, or ugly, or whatever. Much less subtle, and therefore less funny imho.

blown out of proportions how? did they have a economic meltdown because of the release hype and people skipping work to play it, or its being praised as the end all be all of every game ever made?

maybe there was a 1 hour special on all the news channels about portal being released I missed that gives you this impression.

it had some marketing ARG, some user hype, and a fancy release...don't see the out of proportion part here.

Are you sure you aren't talking about CoD, Halo, Gears of War? These are blown out of proportion games thanks to their huge multi-million dollar marketing campaigns.

Anyone else experienced hickups in rooms with lots of Repulsion Gel?

Other than that, it's steady at 60 fps.

I'm pretty disappointed that there actually was nothing that hinted to EP3 or HL3.. no Combines.. nothing. Except the Borealis Lifebuoys.

Well, to be honest, I've recently downgraded to an AMD Athlon 2 X2 220, perhaps it relies heavily on the CPU, it is, after all, Havok, is it not?

Anyway, I'll post an update once I get my usual CPU replaced. But I'm more than certain the gel mechanics depend heavily on the CPU, they don't look scripted.

The ARG was their marketing campaign. But it was more about marketing 13 indie games instead of Portal 2 Laughing
