The ARG was their marketing campaign. But it was more about marketing 13 indie games instead of Portal 2
Marketing crap or not, the guys who actually had some potatoes got pretty nicely rewarded in the end .
True, but didn't you have to get all the potatoes for the reward?

Finished it today. Funny, but lacked the challenges. It was obviously dumbed down for consoles. I'll play the co-op missions too. I understand they are somewhat more challenging. Portal 1 was a much better game puzzle wise.

I get a specific CTD during the last chapter, specifically:
Note: only read if you're done with the game..
Spoiler:
It's when i'm being chased by wheatley and well.. It's when that bridge collapses and gets some of that blue gel on it. you jump over and enter a big hall where there are loads of turrets on the other side. You have to portal up to a small "overlook" where you can stand on a button that continuously starts creating the blue gel. What I do is that I create a start portal on the ground where the gel hits and one on high up on a wall so the gel hits the turrets and kills them. Specifically what this guy is doing from 05.25 here :
Is it the crack or do I have to wait for an update? It crashes at the exact same place every single time. [/spoiler]

Portal 1 was also out for consoles.
... just sayin'
Consolophobia has continues to reach new heights.
Orange Box wasn't available for consoles at the same time. So Portal 1 had a chance to be challenging.
In Portal 2, you can do a puzzle in 2 minutes even in Chapters 8-9, where the puzzles should be harder.
@Razacka2 I had the exact same issue. I copied the crackfix again and I managed to pass that spot without crashing anymore.

You are wrong it was released at the same time on 360 (the PS3 port developed by EA was delayed).

.
What are you babbling about? Orange Box was released simultaneously on PC and 360... and you're still forgetting one simple fact; The Orange Box was released on the 360. The 360 is a what now? Yesssssssssssssssssss, that's right! IT'S A CONSOLE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. Portal was the same on the 360 (albeit with a shittier framerate) as it was on the PC. The puzzles weren't changed, it was the same game. So why would Portal 2 be "dumbed down for consoles" when the FIRST GAME wasn't?
Like I said; consolophobia is strong here. Some of you need to grow the fuck up and get off the bandwagon, your combined weight is breaking the wheels
P2 was a little easier. It wasn't about execution and timing. If you figured out how to do something, doing it was actually trivial. A lot of time to think and act.
I agree. It feels a little easier (still haven't finished it) because they removed the do-it-fast puzzles. On the other hand co-op should be more difficult than Portal 1 because you have to use two sets of portals and communicate with your partner.
Another reason it feels a little easier is because we already know how to use momentum and other tricks from having played Portal 1

Any cool easter eggs in Portal 2? I haven't noticed anything significant and I'm curious.
Did you destroy the turret behind a small gate that led to a shaft over 3 other turrets that were singing?
You use that mirrored cube thing to blow the turret and thus blowing the gate for you acess.
Sabin, the truth is, P2 had piss easy puzzles - my GF got stuck here and there for a few minutes though. Even so, I think the puzzles were better than in P1.
Overall, very good game, quality through and through - but I'm not giving it game of the year just yet!

It's not like the puzzles in the first game were harder. This game is Portal + so much more, really nothing is worse, it's a proper sequel. I don't understand where do some people even get the idea from that this has been dumbed down.
Puzzles aren't easy. They're easier. And simple. But also portal 1 was easy and simple. Could beat the game in one sitting. Portal 2 has more puzzles. More things to figure out. The only aspect of portal 2 that is easy is the fact that we've played portal before. There was one map where it took me awhile to figure out what I was doing wrong or what a certain thing was for. Yeah once you figure it out, its easy. But it doesn't stop it from being fun. It's far more polished than portal 1. And far more fun. I'd give it a goty maybe after I beat it. Right now it just is better than portal 1. Is it worth goty? With the awesome pew pew games coming out... hard to say.
funniest game in years, it has been a long time I caught myself laughing behind my screen. A bit too easy perhaps but so refreshing in a world of a gazzilion shooters with different skins...

I never said it was dumbed down - in fact, I said the puzzles are better (harder, more varied) - but still not hard. It was a very good sequel, and really good game!
picked up sapphire's "new" 5850 xtreme...that & 2500k, maxxes out without a blink.
It maxes out (1680x1050, 16xQCSAA, around 58-60 FPS) on a 8800GT & Q9550 @ 3.6Ghz here.
The gfx work well for Portal 2, but they are not that impressive really. They just manage to create something quite beautiful with an aging engine. The minimalistic and "boxy" level Design also doesn't need that much resources.
I bet they will present either a new engine or some really drastic improvements to Source for HL3. I also think HL3/EP3 wont come before the next gen of consoles will be able to handle that engine properly. Then again, I could be all wrong.

as always, photoshoped still images can be a big lie. But anyway, try another better graphic card and you should see even better resuylts, for example, surfaces like glass or robots are very well polished.
