nightlith: Great review, I liked Empire Earth, however I am not a fan of stratedgy games, so I'm not going to give this a try. It's a shame, really, it's one of the best RTSes released.

Although it was a great review... there's really no point doing these long reviews:

1. Not a lot of people read them.
2. People tend to post comments such as "lol yea" after quoting your entire review.
3. Why the hell are you writing a review about a great game instead of playing it? =P

meh, it's just my thing. I didn't actually mean to make it a long review, there's just ALOT of cool new stuff they've improved upon. And I'm trying to pre-empt the "what's it like" posts

Best thing is, some of my cocky friends who never play tutorials are going to get destroyed in LAN games, cause of all the micromanagement issues in this game, at least for awhile. I must admit, this game looked way to complex before I slogged through the tutorials, but now its good fun.

Tutorial #1 is bullshit, i.e. build a town center, no you cant build them on trees, etc... But the other 3 are helpful. Pity you cant skip the first one -- i bet lots of people skip the tutorials because it is just that tedious.

seriously you guys, you will always be dissapointed in one way or another if you dont give a game a chance to catch on, games are the most fun when u have learnt to know them like your own pocket, not the first skirmish game where you desperatly try to survive while you figure shit out.
Besides, why would a rotating camera make the game better? Look at Besieger ;D

Ok is it just me or the game is way to slow to play? I'm getting 15 FPS when it has more then 30 units on the screen! I went to official forums, and everybody are saying the same, this game is slow like shit. I have 512 MB ram, Geforce 6800 GT and 3.2 GHZ and this game runs like crap. Any one who has the same?

hmm I'm having a problem here.
I'm using that public server patch, but as soon as I create a game my upload and download is maxed out (about 120kb down and 30kb up) and it lags so much that everyone in my game has a ping of 2000+ and lags out after a short while.
Anyone else have that problem?

omg THX Very Happy

As for the lag in multiplayer, well i always tought it was fishy that ppl in my gameroom gets 600 ping, FOR SITTING IDLY AND CHATTING....
So i tried a 1v1 via direct-ip, perfect, about 40ms ping ingame. Fuck gamespy, why it lags i have no idea, gamespy should just be introducing people to eachother and then its peer2peer, but doesnt seem like that with all that odd lag.. I bet they have some god damn server statistic shit running.

As for the graphic choppyness, turn off the Picture in Picture!!!!! +50% fps there. Shadows to Medium = no stencil shadows = another +50% fps. And then it should be playable Smile
Thats the settings i use except weather on high instead on very high because at least it makes the weather a BIT less fogged up so u can see shit Razz
Perfectly playable with 4x AA, just owned a dude with 150 musketeers etc Very Happy 15fps deep in the fight but thats completely acceptable with all that shit going on hehe.

Yeah i've noticed that second long slowdown too, I have everything maxed options wise... then always around an hour and 30 to 50 minutes into the game it all of a sudden starts to hesitate for like a second every 4 seconds... its weird... changing option all to low quality doesn't have any effect on anything. It's something else. It becomes very unplayable.

click diplomacy icon (that "bird") - choose that other tribe - click corn/food number so that it's 400 (of course u need to have at least 400 food) - click tribute (or was it accept ...Very Happy), that's it

I had that once in the demo, wanna know what caused it? The AI had built a bridge but his walls were too tight in angle to them, so he had 50+ units trying to push trough the narrow wall to the bridge, a few mortars later it was ok Very Happy

Insane ammount? 2 aint insane? Very Happy

I wanna play 1v1 too!!!!! tell me and ill host direct-ip!
