Probably a few months. Give it time, it'll happen. PS3 hacking has tons of parallels with PSP hacking, and if the PSP has taught me anything, its that the only thing we need is time.

@sabin : you are so right.. But i feel bad for people who dont have the balls to buy a 360 too (whcih i can understand, it's not free).
Then again i'm not sure we will lose that much, most Rockstar games have better framerate and fsaa on 360.
But yeah, I sure hope we will play Uncharted 3, for instance... Anyway, I'm sure there are people working on getting 3.60 keys, it will just take some time, a few months I think, doubt years
Having a 3.60 debug machine would help a lot doing so, that's for sure, and without the 3.60 debug pup leaked, it really doesnt help at all (debug ps3 can downgrade from 3.60), so I think you will see some progress if the guys willing to do something get their hands on it. No one will do tests on retails ps3 considering you would be stuck on 3.60 forever.
Also, something that needs to be considered : if 3.60 can still run old code (for example an old demo or an old PSN game, or even an old NPDRM update), that code that was signed with 3.55 private keys, wouldn't we be able to run homebrew on 3.60 ? Whitelisting isn't the answer to everything...

And most importantly, a higher resolution. But L.A. Noire is developed by Team Bondi, not Rockstar. They probably have their own engine. Originally, the game was even a PS3 exclusive and I think PS3 is still the lead platform.

Very interesting thought. But how do you get the homebrew in the PS3 without the install package option?
What actually happens if you install OFW 3.60 on a console with homebrew? Do the homebrew apps still show up and do they still work under OFW 3.60? Did anyone try this yet?

If you update to 3.60, you will keep your homebrew but they won't run since Sony revoked geohots npdrm private keys AND whitelisted current vendors npdrm private keys to make sure we can't resign homebrew with another set of key from geohot or anyone else getting the algorithm.
Now basically if you can calculate vendor private keys (doable with fail overflow although no one really figured out the npdrm stuff), you can sign homebrew for 3.60.

Isn't that Cobra USB dongle released this week? That should bring something fresh to the scene, especially if it will be possible to include those features in 3.55 cfw.

Has anyone experienced any issues with running games via USB HDD? I loaded my GOW III back up on my 320GB 3.5" HDD (using an external casing) and the cut-scenes were horribly slow (read: lag fest), not to mention horrible load times. It's smooth when in actual combat though.
I didn't try any other game. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this game? I'm using multiMAN 1.16.04 on 3.55 Kmeaw.

Trying to download the Shift 2 1.01 patch and it's taking forever through the PS3 itself, is there a good tool around that'll find the patch and grab it for me?
I've tried this "PS3 Game Updater" but I'm in a derp mode and can't actually find a way to download the patch.
Edit: Nevermind, used Multiman to grab the update.

Anyone tried the Duplex release of Virtua Tennis 4?
I'm running latest multiman, from internal drive; it does the playstation move instructions then errors and goes back to dashboard.

I had some weirdness upgrading multiman this time as well. I needed to install 1.17.02 then web update.
I don't think it will wipe your ps3 - in my experience it warns you before deleting everything.

By default the PKG folder is on external, but if you're running a variant of 3.55 (ITA, KMEAW, GEO, Wanin, etc etc) then you can install this;
http://rebug.me/?p=433
Quote: |
PACKAGE MANAGER OPTIONS:
Navigate to ‘Game’ in your XMB and click on ★ Package Manager (It will be where ★ Install Package Files used to be). You will find three options.
★ PlayStation®Network Content
Manage your downloaded PlayStation®Network Content.
★ Install Package Files
INSTALL package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.
PS3™ Hard Disk – (dev_hdd0/packages)
Package Folder – (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location – (Standard ★ Install Package Files locations)
NOTE: The ‘Install All Packages’ is only available by pressing the TRIANGLE button when the ‘Standard Package Location’ option is highlighted because the PS3 will only install ALL packages from the root of a storage device as of the moment.
|
It comes as standard with the Rebug firmware, but a standalone installer for those not running Rebug.

There has been a few people reporting what happened to my ps3, i re-installed 3.55 official fw and then 3.55 cfw and everything is back to normal, nothing wiped as you say.
Downloading Multiman from pc from now on though!

Anyone had trouble with FTP suddenly not working?
Two of my friends have asked me to look at their PS3's and I just don't seem to be able to connect anymore. Using static IP's and the correct cable, it all works on our own PS3 but on these two it just refuses to connect.
If they've connected to PSN at any point is it possible this has caused a problem?

Using Gaia Manager. It all worked flawlessly, what settings need to be applied in FlashFXP? PASV? Anything like that?

I'll have a try with that then. Just can't get my head around it, FlashFXP always worked fine. Not sure what the problem is with it now.

http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/05/mathieulh-qa-flagged-ps3-video-enable-hidden-firmware-options/
"QA flag is the internal console flag used by Sony, it enables hidden options and removes restrictions for both retail and debug consoles alike. It is used for QA centers and the R&D Department, there are 2 levels of QA flags, Minimum and Advanced, this console has been set to the Advanced one."
"Now Mathieulh has come out and said that he will not be telling us how he did this..."
"@dantezteam It’s an UNMODIFIED RETAIL FIRMWARE.
@KaKaRoToKS For various reasons, one of them being that you can warez with this, and the flag stays even after updating.
@KaKaRoToKS The QA flag happens to remove a bunch of restrictions that have the side effect of preventing you to warez.
@dantezteam The console is QA flagged, The firmware checks for this flag and will enable special features when it finds it.
@dantezteam Basically it’s what Sony themselves use to allow special debugging on their consoles and loosen restrictions.
@KaKaRoToKS By the way, Advanced QA flag enables downgrading, just my 2 cents… xD"

so he used the original Firmware that you can find in PS3 booths when some dev is demoing its product
IF THAT LEAKS then Sony is truly fucked

I WISH THAT CUNT WOULD JUST SHUT HIS FUCKING MOUTH. I fucking absolutely detest Mathieulh .. and I'm starting to feel the exact same way with KaKaRoTo now as well. He's so far up Math's ass, it's impossible to know where one ends and the other begins.
