Unless, you know, you don't actually like the game. If you like ARMA, by all means, support them. But I won't be buying it because, despite the fact that I love simulations, this game was dull and a bugfest. I'm not paying to be their beta tester.

It depends in what way you want to play.
Ace (realistic gameplay):
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=117996
J.S.R.S. Mod (sound replacement):
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=104514
Zeus (better AI):
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=89970
WarFX Blastcore (visual effects):
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=111985
Community Base Addons (essential for most addons to work), Ace I think will install this.

I don't know if you've ArmA 2 or Combined Operations. Try to look for a version that's compatible with your version of the game. Most of them are only being developed for Combined Operations. Try to download an ArmA 2 launcher, it will help loading the game with addons. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6649

Probably you can reduce the size of the grass (I think that I saw a mod that would that, not sure), but without I don't know if it's possible, unless there's an island without it. Anyway rise the question in the official forum.

Bohemia Interactive have just announced a free-to-play version of their outstanding war sim. It’s going to be totally free, but 100% ARMA.

According to the developers “Arma 2: Free redefines the free-to-play battlefield with its truly unrivalled scale and gameplay possibilities. Arma 2: Free serves up almost everything offered by the original Arma 2 – the ’13th best PC game of all time’, according to PC Gamer – minus the campaign, HD graphics and support for user-made addons and mods.”

Despite the lack of HD graphics, ARMA 2: Free still looks like a handsome game. And even though mods aren’t supported, there’ll still be opportunity to create your own missions and scenarios to play through with squad mates.

Most exciting of all though, is that ARMA 2: free will be completely free. Not just free-to-play – there are no micro-transactions in sight. This is especially exciting news because now everyone will get a chance to sample the simulated delights of warfare. I’ve attempted to force the PC Gamer UK office into ARMA 2 sessions many times. Now they have no excuse. We can only assume that Bohemia Interactive can afford this kind of awesomeness thanks to the recent announcement of ARMA 3; check out some fresh screenshots of that PC behemoth here.

We’ve sent Tim over to the Bohemia Interactive booth at E3 – we’ll have more on ARMA 2: Free soon.

Trailer:

100% free, 100% ARMA, no mods support though.

Bought the combined pack on steam. Which DLC is worth it? The British or the PMC? Only have enough for one of them and want to buy it before the promo ends.

EDIT: bought the Uplink/Darwinia pack instead. Might as well buy those since I love them and I only got Defcon from Introversion "offically".

if you want a pack, just wait until they release ARMA X or whatever the fuck they call it. 60 bones but it's supposed to have everything they've released.

Or just wait for ARMA3. It should be playable by the year 2015 when they get all the inevitable BIS bugs taken care of Very Happy

I recently got the FLT Operation Arrowhead release, and patched it with the 1.52 Vitality release, but the game crashes whenever I click on the Scenarios option, or randomly in-game or even in the editor. Just crashes to desktop with the unbelievably informative "Program has fucked up and has to shut down" pop-up.

Any ideas? Is it a bad crack? I also have ArmA 2 Free installed (it's what encouraged me to try out a version without console-level textures Cool Face), which may or may not be the problem since that's obviously legit and my OA isn't.

Bad crack should result in Fade (as with banned serial). Unless you're using some homebrewn crack.
Could also be random crash and good luck with that Razz

The crack's Vitality's 1.52 executable, and it doesn't seem to have been nuked.

And as far as I know, OA's protection scheme is SecuROM.

AFAIK fade is always on arma games, regardless of any other conventional CP. But yeah, it can't be Fade, since it would mess up the game mechanics, not cause crashes.

I have a legit copy of both arma2 games now and I had a series of crashes a while ago. It was tied to graphics options. One of them was unstable on higher settings. It was either the view distance or shaders, but played around with them a lot so it could be any combination.

The RPT log file of sorts adjudicates the crashes to either C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 7C809750 or C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 01D16226. Though the latter is quite more common than the former.

Fuck if I know what they mean, though. Sad

ARMA 2 - free here but looks like it's only for new customers and you need the GMG capsule client so perhaps make a new account if youy already are a customer and grab the other 2 games along with it... haven't tried it cos I really can't be arsed atm - maybe look at it tomorrow - I own all the ARMA stuff anyway.

http://www.greenmangaming.com/thesun/

Edit - it does work - made a second account and got the game for free... gonna add the others Smile

Actually - it probably works with existing accounts but I can't check cos it blocks a second account on the same IP if you get me - I tried Men of War first and the voucher code for that is wrong so I thought it was not allowing me to get the freebies on my existing account - last digit is supposed to be 1 not 2

must be over. 404 error now Smile

and back again. server issues I guess Smile Man, their site is getting hammered haha. Either 404's or server errors after waiting 5 minutes. Keep hitting refresh if you want it though. It'll load eventually.

Also you'll need the codes here http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fun/gaming/3681414/Games-for-gratis.html

Also, the GMG page that talks about the Sun deal says you have to go through checkout three times. That's not true. I put all three in the basket, put all three codes in, and just did the checkout once and it worked (eventually)
