Well it uses rockstars engine (RAGE) too so there is going to be lots of similarties, while it isn't as much of a sandbox game as GTA it's also open world... So yeah of course people will compare it to gta, nothing to complain about.

sooo, played a good 5 hours.
pro:
- nice investigation gameplay
- good presentation and style
- gunplay and driving is fun
con:
- Major slowdowns
- scenery pop up
- very late texture loading, meaning you see a low res version first
- Way too much info on screen at once at the start (tip after tip after tip)
- Very high compression on the voices
- Some very bad voice recordings
- Everyone looks constipated

I didn't see any tearing.. but i'm not sure what you mean... Do you mean the "effect" that happens when vsync is off and the screen is divided into 2 parts ?
Well framerates drop to like 15fps sometimes (which is really bad), when you are in the open during day light (night is 30fps constant) and looking at people/cars/world.... When you are near houses, it runs again at 30Fps... So it's really noticeable, specially you begin a chapter, and the camera goes from the sky to you, you can see cars almost teleporting, maybe that's what you mean by tearing ? Like they are progressing, but with hick ups.... which is what happens a lot when the game slows down, it has hick ups.

And graphically speaking, it looks the same as the PS3 videos I have seen... Nothing incredible, but the motion capture and the faces are incredible... Although after some interrogation, it's easy to see if they are lying or not... |
What about screen tearing? Is it imminent? How often do the frames drop? |

In regards to this point, if the voices sound as they do in the trailers - I think this is intentional. If you watch old movies, that "voice in a can. . ." type sound is how they come off. Of course this might be something else entirely (still trying to get a good burn on a damn Memorex).

I suggest you install the game on HDD if you have texture issues cuz they look fine here running from USB (jtag though). I thought voices were like the trailers, which are OK... Maybe cuz i'm on a 5.1 setup ?

I installed it too and I no doubt got slowdowns, they are very easy to spot. Also pop ups but that is not terrible. Texture loading I honestly haven't really noticed much.

Doubt we will see anything until Monday. The only guy who has reported having this game only intended to upload the first disc and since we have no scene release it's fair to assume they don't have the game yet.

Please tell me that you can aim yourself and don't have to rely on a retarded auto-aim or lock-on system!?

Played for about 3 hours now. Notice no pop ups/pop in or late texture loading etc, but I'm playing on a USB HDD on my JTAG.
So far I love it! Great atmosphere, art direction and overall feeling of it. Voice acting and animation is of course top notch. Haven't had that much problem with the driving, it's a bit too sensitive, that I agree on, but with some practice you make it work.
I don't think the action/shooting is bad either, I really loved that
Spoiler: | bank robbery scene in the beginning, when you use the shotgun. |
Haven't played much as I said, 3 or so hours. Like the XP/reward/rank system, the evaluation when you finish cases, the structuring of cases (you really can solve them in more than one way).
So yeah, it's great so far IMO And I'm so glad that it's a long game on 3 discs

Great summary, I've played about 30 mins and really digging the atmosphere and how the gameplay is structured. If this is around 15hrs of solid gameplay I'd be really impressed and as its on 3 discs I can't see why not.

This post over at NZBMatrix made me laugh;
"yeah i agree. I might just buy it since 3 disc is a lot to use up on one game."
