I'm laughing my ass off at "Crappy as hell. . ." Yea. Too bad they didn't spring for that fancy CryEngine and Whizzbangitude. The game isn't going to win any graphics awards; thankfully with the storytelling and facial tech it doesn't need to.
I'm also confused about those saying the cars handle like shit. Cars handle about as well as they did in GTA IV.

I don't like to argue with people on forums because lets face it - what's the fucking point - but I have to say BULLLLLL-SHIT dude. Go back and play GTA IV again bud. The car handling in this game makes me think of Pole Position. It's like the car turns left and right but feels like the "world" is spinning around it.
I just got done replaying GTA IV and not to toot my own horn but i'm a pretty good driver in game. The handling is just nothing like L.A. Noire, no two ways about it.

Not an argument at all - you feel the driving is wildly different, I don't. I was expecting these cars to be a minigame in and of themselves; but their mechanics are damn near identical to GTA IV. /shrug - To each their own.

No, they are not and if you got that opinion, you simply are wrong. GTA IV's car handling is WAY better than this one's. They aren't even close.
Anyways, besides the car handling, game is absolutely great.

cyclonefr wrote: | I didn't see any tearing.. but i'm not sure what you mean... Do you mean the "effect" that happens when vsync is off and the screen is divided into 2 parts ?
Well framerates drop to like 15fps sometimes (which is really bad), when you are in the open during day light (night is 30fps constant) and looking at people/cars/world.... When you are near houses, it runs again at 30Fps... So it's really noticeable, specially you begin a chapter, and the camera goes from the sky to you, you can see cars almost teleporting, maybe that's what you mean by tearing ? Like they are progressing, but with hick ups.... which is what happens a lot when the game slows down, it has hick ups. |
Thanks for the explanation cyclone. And YES, by scree tearing, I meant the V-Sync OFF effect. That's one thing I really loathe.

the xbox360 port is awful ... it has the same problems like Red Dead Redemption had glitches, slow downs, pop ins , texture problems ... i just can't believe they released a game in such a state but then again RDR was broken like shit after like 3 to 4 patches it became playable

I guess 360 was a far better port for RDR , PS3 port was running at 640p.

As per early reviews the game picks up after the first few hours.
