I'm not trying to be gay or anything but I'm really glad so many of you decide to buy The Witcher 2. The good games should be supported. It's the bullshit that needs to be pirated in my opinion. Kudos people. There's hope for the PC still.

I'm using a e6600 cpu with 250gts vid and tried skidrow release and get somewhat blah framerate so i hate to oc cpu a bit to 3ghz.... well just tried those 2 files from GoG release crack .. and just like everyone else is saying a get better framerate with gog then i do with secrom crack... about 10-15 fps more, better than anything.

How the fuck are u supposed to beat over 10 monsters in a cave when doing a quest? i dont get it u get beaten in no time no matter how many traps etc i just loose the interest in playing like this it doesnt feel fun anymore.

Assuming we're talking about the same quest: use quen and bombs, also you can go back a bit towards the entrance where the monsters dont follow you and recoup.

another thing to take note of is when hitting something you interrupt it, with some awareness and luck you can take groups pretty easily with ample use of signs, dodging and parry.

so I completed the game, some thoughts on the later parts of the game and such (dont read if you havent finished it)
 Spoiler: | 3rd act and epilogue seemed far more rushed then the first two. The combat also got way easier once you got good armor and a nice sword. game also kinda also teased you with yennefer, the mighty emperor and the unsolved questions about the wild hunt. ending left so many things up to be answered, but I guess that will have to be answered in the expansion and possible sequel.
I'd say act 1 and 2 took around 78% of the all around time it took me to complete the game. |

It's funny how we've been treated like derps the last few years and now if a game gives you a little bit of challenge we feel like it's just too hard. Just face it, we've been face-rolling everything and now we actually need to fuckin think.

I can't believe the increase in performance I got once I installed my gog version. A steady 50 FPS'es(this is the lowest I got on the gog ver) with blur/bloom and ubersampling turned off.
i5 2500k with 8 gigs and 5770 1gb

I got the finisher DLC since I PO'ed via Amazon. But, the file got 0 bytes. So just creating a file, name it finishers.dlc and put it into the folder should do the trick.
"Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads"
Since the file doesn't contain any data what so ever, it should work?!

There's no way to activate the retail version via GOG as you could (probably?) do with steam, right?
Sucks that those who bought the retail are getting the shaft, at least as of now.

Just to point out.
troll.dlc from skidrow release has some byte differences compared to earlier troll.dlc file that was floating around. So it probably was needed to "modify" dlc to work with pirated copy.
EDIT:
I don't see any effect of these dlc yet, regardless of exe used.

There is actually one thing about the game that pisses me off big time...
THE FRIGGIN MUTAGENS!
They're useless. Pretty stupid that you can't exchange/overwrite them. Or do they level up over time? Since, why should I insert the low quality ones when you don't get any good ones until late game or endgame? (Meh, sorry but my english is lacking... I'm a bit burned out)

Well, if you insert the lower quality one (but I would suggest to be at least a but picky, and get most useful one), you reap the benefits for a longer time, so there is a trade off. Smaller benefits for most of the time, or higher benefits for a shorter time.
Anyway, it's not a MMORPG, you don't need best stats at max level, but as good as it gets during whole game.

Well, I liked the TW1 Mutagens alot more actually. They were more rewarding. Especially the ones that gave you new and unique abilities.

Hehe, happy for you, mate! It only seems natural for me that you pay less, as it's a polish game and the devs are "nice guys". 
32.5 Euro for me (without transport which costs, iirc, ~3 Eu). So that's 35. Still, quite convenient as Steam & GoG are 50 Eu. |

Sorry to say, but as far as I'm concerned, w2's combat was faceroll as well. I actually had to use pots in w1 on harder difficulty, barely had to do it here. I found combat easy. They could have went with Risen style combat (or some such), where there are more moves, more counters, is less clumsy.
Bombs are nice, but I never used them, because killing mobs in two swings is easy enough. I used them only when I wanted to vary up my gameplay.
All in all, the single thing keeping this game from being a 10+/10 is the combat - rest is epic, and I want more!
