Hi all, i'd like some advice. I have a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 with a serial ata II connection.
Can I use a Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 3 TB, SATAIII, 7200rpm, 64MB?
I get it when i can't use it to full potention, but I'm only interested in it's Tbites.
Anyone know this? Searched on the net but I read alot of people that say yes and other say no.

Yes, you can use it on that mobo. But I don't you'd be able to see the whole 3TB capacity (the 965 chipset is old and hardly can the latest bios for your mobo help). 2TBs should be visible, however.

P.S. I gather only the new UEFI-based MBs can utilize the whole 3TBs ...

I thought that was only the problem with your operating system. Xp only sees 2 tb vista an win 7 3tb.

No, 3TB should be visible just fine. It's beyond that for which you need UEFI Smile
