Difference between:
10 + 10 * 0
and
10 + (10*0)
?
Yes, yes I'm back.

Yeah, theres a big difference there. Put ( ) somewhere and i can justify if ppl get 20 or 10 as an answer.
Otherwise.... anything x0... = 0. common ppl =D

wtf. i suck or something. Tried some online calculators and they say 10.
They all put a ( ) in the equation.
Some hidden rule that * goes before + or something? Dont remember that from school.
I remember the difference if there's " ( ) " involved but no rules if * or +/- goes first.

Multiplication is done before addition and thats why i can't get any other answer than 10. check order of operations on wikipedia.
EDIT: Damn! too slow.

It depends on if you use prioritised ordering or left-right ordering. The prioritised ordering is the common one used in mathematics but it's not the only way to count. I guess the question is basically a trick question where students and mathematicians will use the ordering principle while others will use the non-scientific standard. And hence the reason it causes confusion since the question isn't complete except for math students taking all this for granted, mocking other people who don't have the order of operands ingrained into the spine.
Hence the reason why Calculator (in Win) will give 0 in standard mode and 10 in scientific mode.
So both answers are correct.

Umm no they're not. 10 is the correct answer if the problem is formed as it is.
Non-scientific mode of the calculator relies that you enter the operands in the proper order, not left from right.

In any case, it's a silly thing to use as fuel to mock people who come up with 0. Math nerds and students will obviously have the order of operations rule come automatically. Other people who haven't studied math for years, never studied higher level math etc. or may simply have forgotten those rules aren't to blame here, it's the trolls who use this as an example to troll around.
