By the way, do you guys know if the first patch is going to add 4:3 aspect ratio to the game? It's a bit annoying to play it with a monitor which resolution is 1280x1024. Razz

According to the developers it will come, though probably not in this patch. They have more important things to handle for now.

They said it will happen "some day" perhaps they meant later, after the 360 version.

Hard to say as all their hidden messages so far were written in somewhat broken English Razz

I think I just had a massive boner. Kotor 3 in Witcher 2 engine... OH GOD YES. I wonder if CDPR will sell the engine license. This engine is like AMAZING for RPG games of all sorts.

+1
It's an absolutely amazingly-looking graphical engine. The Witcher 2 is the best-looking game this year so far.

Razz

The truth is that until the console versions of the game are released and they see how good (or not) it runs on them, nobody is going to license the engine.

I imagine it will look like everything on lowest settings running at about 30 or so FPS and if so it won't be anything amazing for multiplat games.

ok, dumb question...

I defeated the kayran like 2 days ago, so I did allot of stuff since then.
Now I realised I had a kayran armor diagram and noticed I need kayran skin... I didn't loot the Kayran, any way of getting the skin or am I f*cked?

If you're still in Chapter 1 maybe you can go back and loot it. Otherwise there's no way. You get better armor in chapter 2 and 3 anyway so it's not really a big deal.

So CDP created this engine from scratch? I thought it was some modified unreal engine.

Nope, it's made from scratch.

If it was unreal engine, you would see a lot of pop-ins like in every Unreal Engine game. Laughing

Don't be fooled by the CookedPC named folder or some of the ini files content, this is their own creation (REDEngine, with Havok, Scaleform and SpeedTree middleware.)

Unpacking that data0.dzip 9GB archive makes this pretty clear but the file layout is pretty different already. Smile

EDIT: Was answered, still "Data" would have been better than "CookedPC" I guess.

Impressive considering their budget for W2. Dear God hope they wont end up in the grinder that is EA and end up like Bioware or worse...

They began writing a new engine "from scratch", "right after releasing The Witcher", with their main concern being to "make sure our engine would be capable of doing a console game as well".

Apparently this patch we are waiting is actually HUGE.

Gop also answered one other complaint that some users have had: glitches. He explained that the development is working hard on a "huge" patch which it hopes will be available in the next few days.

Source: Eurogamer article.

Would be funny to see a 37MB patch though (that in reality fixes a HUGE number of thousands of bugs). Smile

Have not done any programing for at least 20 years, that is entirely possible.. as what the main executable contains is "the game" most everything else are the assets and libraries for function calls, settings, etc...

don't take my reply as gospel thought ... Smile
