When i went in game the first time I'd set everything to advanced I believe the setting was in which all that crap was disabled... only thing different was difficulty was set to 5 instead of 6... Ive done a couple of races and series and always end up way ahead of the pack so i guess 6 it is Razz

Nice game, drifting was the only one i struggled with at first to get platinum lol.

However stupid thing with these games are that there is ZERO point in those flashbacks when you can just restart the current race you are doing...

Cant remember the name of other rally game i played years back with my Act labs wheel but there were 2 rallys consecutive in which you had to fix yuor car up, you could restart but you'd restart from the beginning of the first rally track, i.e. you couldnt just keep restarting that current track you were trying to complete.... made it harder..

Like this its just a big cheat button, oh fucked up... restart, tracks only 2 minutes long anyway....

M...i dunno why did they name the game 3, no major changes here at all, i feel like more of the same and so far i even like dirt 2 more, but i only played little.
feels more like extension or add-on than dirt 3.

That was the thing that amazed me the most in this game. How fucking dumb can you be to put an autosteer option in a racing game. I'm pretty sure it won't be an option in the next game Laughing.

Pricks better keep it optional, next we'll also be forced to use autoaim like Crytek was hinting Sad

Is it really true autosteering or just some badly named steering assist feature?

Didn't try it, but I wouldn't be surprised. The car's wheels turn like 30 degrees at best and the car is glued to the road - flicking it around a hairpin is annoying as hell, it plays more like a road racer than a rally game.

im surprised that the handling is actually worse then dirt 2, in that game you at least had some feeling of sliding around rally style...

well done codies lol wut

Oh don't get me wrong, it still is better than Dirt 2. Despite the lack of responsiveness, it's still better because in that one you slide for no reason, but when actually trying to induce it, it's impossible without spinning out of control.

I wish SMS would make a rally game, that would be the closest we'd get to RBR Sad

Home network - yes
Hamachi/tunngle - not yet

Because of GFWL, ping has to be bellow 30, and that's almost impossible via internet. So, we have to wait for TeknoGods dll fix..
He did it for F1, and it worked. So we just have to wait..

There's nothing to do, I can't enjoy this game as much as I would like.

Is it better than Dirt 2? Yes, more traditional and definitely less derp in terms of contents (more rally, less annoying chitchat and X-Games related stuff) but:

I don't find the 100% arcade driving model satisfying at all (and disabling all the "aids" doesn't help, since it has a minimal impact on handling), the cars have no weight and the stages are ridiculously short. Sure, the graphics are very nice and well-optimized but damn, it's 2011, I expect something more than a streamlined ColinMcRae Rally 3 HD with wider roads

So making sure all players have <30 ping is a anti piracy matter by GFWL ?

Yes, this is one of the worst examples in all of gaming history.
Your advisors, especially the male one, are annoying pricks.
This fucker constantly calls you "buddy" and "amigo".
I'm not your buddy guy! And no one dare call me, the "Great One" amigo, this is downright insulting. Mad

And what is it with all this in your face "you need a VIP pass" locked car shit!?
Is there no unlocker yet?

An interesting mod is out:

The DiRT 3 "TyreGrip Adjustment tool"

Quote:
- current version: 1.0.1 [25 May 2011]
- size: ca. 500 kb
- What it does:
- With this program you can adjust the percentage of your TyreGrip
- I recommend values between 1 % and 100 % (which is default)
- One click and you can go back to default for online play
-> You can't play online with that mod, always restore original!

http://www.dirt2-tools.110mb.com/download.html

A value of 80-85% should be good Smile

some puzzling replies

game has an auto steer option omg!! - err turn it off then?

game isn't richard burns or sim style at all - err have you played dirt 1 & 2 ? if you were expecting any sort of realism in the handling then you clearly haven't

game looks great, runs even better and controls fantastic with a proper wheel. well worth the cash for a key, lots of fun to be had online

I don't know....personally I haven't tried it and even if a will it will probably be with some of my friends which use the same ISP so ping <30 is not a problem.

The interesting part is the game works without even creating an offline account and from what I can tell even the AUTOSAVE feature. It's a bit curious since games on GFWL required the player to be logged in into some kind of account be it offline or online.

Is it the crack or does the game work in some other manner...?

Loving this game. Wish I had a bit more control over car selection in the Tour mode but I suppose it's a tour, if I really want I can just go single race or online.

Dirt 2 was the first game that actually got me into racing games. Since then I've kind of gotten more into the Forza2/3/Shift 2 stuff but I have a lot more fun playing these types.

I'm also with monkeee on the dumb people who expected Dirt 3 to suddenly change the series into a sim game... Go play Richard Burns or something.

Hmm, just tried the game... I like it. Better than Dirt 2 imo, normal menu is back also.

I gave the Gymakana a try but it's fucking hard. I can't get it to drift Ken Block style! Laughing

I think people already gave up on any kind of sim for the masses, so nobody was expecting that with Dirt3, the problem is, this game is even further away, is even more arcadish than Dirt2. Some cars take less than 2sec from 0 to 100khm and stop instantly when you tap the break. The car handling is broken. They seemed glued to the road.

Game looks the same as Dirt2. Sorry for wishing that 2y later they could make use of at least half of my graphics card. The cockpit view (i know i know nobody uses it) is particularly horrendous.

Why would anyone bother plugging a wheel this this Trackmania wannabe is besides me, but whatever.
