btw: switching off antyaliasing to improve FPS (with ubersampling on) did nothing. no improvement.

Yea, it's due to the powerful videocard. Nowadays most cards handle easily antialiasing. At least up to 4x. Higher isn't even necessary, imo. Smile

The antialising in game is a very lightweight version, what you have in drivers as 4x would be quite a lot more costly.

I did every quest according to the official guide, and I did it in 34 hours. Not rushing BTW. The second playthrough with a different second act took 31 hours( on hard). Now I'm doing my third. Smile

The game uses MLAA, which is not as accurate as MSAA, but it works well with engines that have deferred rendering (like TW2) and it's very efficient. It's also the most used AA method for consoles for that reason Wink

Even with my system, ubersampling is not playable. I can have everything turned up as far as I want, except that one option. Although, I've disabled all the fucking blur 'n bloom, can't stand that shit Smile

In this particular game, it might be true as it's quite demanding. But, generally, nowadays antialiasing is handled mostly with little sweat by cards that start in the range of ATI 4870 or nVidia 9800GTX.

And if you go into the "official" marketing declared mainstream (as in a 460GTX or ATI same range version), you can trust me on it: AA is not a problem anymore, as long as you stay away from so called games that in reality are tech-demos. Smile

Chapter 3 is starting to piss me off. After the awesomeness that was chapter 1+2, this feels like an afterthought. The design is unimaginative and not very exciting. The same shit happened with Risen, though I do believe the turn to the dark side was much more sudden and worse in Risen. What a fucking shame, but I guess they couldn't have worked on it endlessly.
Still the two chapters lasted me 30 hours or so (Steam isn't accurate since it seems to think chapter one took me 2 hours). That's two modern shooters, maybe even three. This game also has superb replay value, I miss that in modern games. Definitely worth every penny, though close to the ending it's beginning to lose its magic.

Longer than ch 1 for sure. More exploration, more stuff to do. At least on Roche's path.

Could be 7-8 as well, in the case of Homefront Cool Face

I'm still in Chapter 2, not had that much time. My master swordsman build has bit me in the ass a couple of times though, some fights are ridiculously tough (like Traut) Razz

Same as in W1, the chapters are not meant to delimit portions of similar content length but more like steps in the story.
I doubt people would have complained about that portion being rushed if game wouldn't be split in Chapters. The story makes sense, it's not being forced to conclusion all of a sudden. It was obvious since C2 it will be a showdown in that place.

Thing is, when you see C3 you instantly expect same amount of content as previous 2 chapters and feel disappointed.

For some odd reason, throughout the game, I had a weird feeling that the game is too short :S. I'm about 30 hours in now, 3/4 through Chapter 2.

Well maybe because it is rushed. It's all buildup Act1&2 then Act 3 just throws everything in you're face. In basically all explained to you in the Epilouge. Compared to the story and pacing of the first one it does feel lackluster. And the open ending (with no real ending) leaves me feeling a bit empty. Compared to the awsomeness of chapters 1&2, the third one is a huge letdown.

If you have the Steam version you just check your profile, otherwise, no idea.

With Steam you might get a seriously bloated number at the end of the day. It counts on and on even if you paused the game so better use your watch than Steam.

One thing people tend to forget about witcher 2 is that it isnt just a game but it has several endings and paths you cant take during the first playthrough. Act 2 in particular.
So a fair estimate of the total gameplay time should be something like 50-60h, though you have to replay some parts which might be boring to some.

Planning on playing it again soon, this time I'll go with Iorveth and his squarrels.

The overall ends are fairly similar but I suppose the full sixteen different variants stretch over a long period throughout the entire game for the more important decisions.

Skidrow is using the retail EFIGS version of the game, install the 0-day update and then the 1.1 patch (Which in turn removes the DRM.) and remember to use the original game files as the updater will fail otherwise.
