Who knows? cause afaik the games that have great sequels, had pretty lousy first editions, the odds are high that the next sequel that is 'great' will be of a game series whose other versions had been more ordinary than a housefrau's bust.

Four actually if you include the Bard's Tale Construction Set 
But, yeah, I meant a continuation of the series. They could even take it 3D isometric. But keep the core of the game similar. Party of adventurers, classes, spells, humor, etc. If they had some good writers they could make a kickass new Bard's Tale game using the NWN2 engine.
Although, honestly, I'd rather see a Bard's Tale game using an engine like Fallout 2. Turn based tactical combat. Free to walk around and interact with the environment otherwise. Realistically though, that will never happen. Those types of games are a niche market now and wouldn't be commercially successful.
And I didn't care at all for the inXile Bard's Tale game. Maybe I was just expecting something different. It's been a long time, perhaps I'll give it another go.

Bruce Lee. Yeah seriously. I want a story driven martial-arts game where you have quests besides just kicking the shit out of endless respawns. This could be pretty awesome with todays technology.
