I really liked what I saw, looked very good, but...

Yeah but please let's hope the whole game won't be as linear as that short sequence.
This! Yeah, I know they said that it's going to be somewhat open-world and I do like Crystal Dynamics, but you can't trust any developer these days, who knows if all they said will be true.
The first level is likely meant to let you know the controls and the core mechanics of the title. I wouldn't worry yet.

I'm worried this much just because I'm a huge fun of the series and I love every Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider too, but... there's this feeling that you just can't trust a developer these days. I think they revived the series properly after Core Design released that amazingly crappy game (which is still better than a lot of games that we get today though, sadly...).
@DarkRohirrim : i agree with you.. While Tomb Raider Angel of the Darkness was the worst of the serie, it's still better than most games we are getting nowadays...
Hmm, let me see. Over the shoulder cam ala Resident Evil = Me being worried. Lara being able to run, jump & swim with a perforated liver??? I know she is a tough cookie but that's too much over the top.
Other than that, it looks interesting, let's just hope this game isn't Resident Raider

She screamed a little to much for my taste in that vid, I liked her a bit more mature. Although, aparently, she's 21 in the game, not 15, as some suspected.
ASUS GTX 660 2GB, AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE, MSI 870-G45, 4GB DDR3 1333, Plextor M5 Pro 128GB, WD Red 1TB

Remember she's just starting her career as a reckless grave robber.

Yeah, I know, I'm very much interested in the game, I own all TRs. I'm just a bit worried, that all the moaning is there mainly to attract teenagers and that I'll be annoyed by it.

It didn't look like OTS camera to me, it looked like classic third person camera, which is what I want. I'm sick of the OTS camera, what the hell is the purpose of that, who the fuck invented that?!
I've just watched the gameplay video and...I really liked what I've seen, a mix between Uncharted and Resident Evil. Maybe a bit too scripted for my tastes but it's just the introduction..it's surely one of the most interesting titles shown at the E3 though

I agree. I wasn't even looking forward to this game and just opened this thread cause I was bored. I was pleasantly surprised.
For the Microsoft event we were asked to take a 15 minute experience in the den and give it a five and a half minutes."
"So with that you have to condense experiences into shapes that we wouldn't necessarily liked to have done but ultimately we still wanted to create and show this new vision of the franchise."
"We are not heavy when it comes to quick time events. We are not shallow. We saw the cinematics today about how Lara interacts with Roth and we see an emotion we haven't seen before. I think yesterday morning was really more of a representation of aspects of the game."

There's an element of non-linearity to the mission, which means Croft can find the den a number of different ways – in this case she scales a nearby dilapidated building, but alternatively she could have followed the wolves' fresh prints. Similarly she can get back to Roth using a number of different routes. In the demo she does this by diving down from the top of a waterfall, as opposed to crawling down the side of the same building she just scaled.

We're told this island is just one of many hubs that Lara will be able to travel to repeatedly, by forming basecamps at each of the hubs she discovers. Fast Travel allows Croft to easily get back to old hubs for further exploration - although what you gain from exploring these areas isn't made clear. Crystal Dynamics has also implemented varied weather conditions as well as night and day cycles which affects the islands you visit. Additionally, Lara will be able to salvage material to craft into items, which offers a nicely literal take on her resourceful survivor persona.
- E3 demo "compressed" from 15 minutes to 5.5, it's not exactly representative of the game
- Non-linearity
- Many islands / Hubs
- Weather, day-night cycles
- Crafting
I approve!
