the patching trick is becoming more & more dead, dont expect to play much more games these days. For example, there is already a FEAR 3 patch on Sony's server, but it needs 3.60, and it's a 3rd party game. Also, they removed all existing patches that were on sp-int (debug patches). Hell, even Duke Forever US version update is 3.60 (vs european which is 3.50)...
I guess Sony didnt like much the fact that we could pirate Infamous 2 so easily.

I don't know what you're complaining about, we have homebrew (love those 36 puzzle games!) and OtherOS, that's all that matters. Stop complaining. Go code 'sploits yourself, you dirty leecher!
Boy, I did an EXCELLENT Mathieulh and KaKaRoTo impression there! >_< Fucking scene is dead.

Nothing will ever come of that, it's a wild goose chase with Math pissing himself laughing at everyone running around like headless fools.

Yah, pretty hilarious all this bullshit over "homebrew" and getting linux on there.
I bet a whole 5 people downloaded linux and then did nothing with it, and I bet a handful of people downloaded the "homebrew" and don't touch it.
And then they are like "WHAT?!??! Y U NO WANT THIS?!"
Retards. c4e was recently quoted he still wants to take a look at PS3. Hopefully he revives the scene.

The only ones even TRYING to keep the scene alive, are the emulator and backup manager developers. Squarepusher, themaister, lantus, robo_hobo, deank, rogero, mr_goodfrag, slynk, etc... The rest? Nothing but talk. Talk and a whole lot of unsubstantiated bullshit.

c4e has proven himself over and over... we'll see if he gets around to PS3. The last ray of hope!

it's not a good idea . If C4E will create a CFW for ps3 drive he will have problems with Sony and then both scenes will be dead (PS3 and X360) so I think he should use his skills only for X360 drives

As long as he keeps his identity to himself he should be safe. Don't know if he has shown himself though.

Sabin, what about these new FW 3.60 debug leaks? A shot of adrenaline for the scene or just more hype with no substance?

Sadly no, just hype with no substance. The PUPs are encoded with their respective keys and can only be installed on legitimate TEST hardware.

Scene has completely dried up, I'm now edging towards putting my PS3 back to legit. My mate got a PS3 for Christmas and I've always been disappointed we couldn't do online games together but I outweighed that with free games. Can't really see much of a reason not to go back legit.

It's only to prevent updates to the firmware, it's merely cosmetic and won't allow you to play 3.60 games.

ahh, i figured it wasn't anything awesome or it would be all over the place on here. at least if they keep it going we'll be able to play drake 3 without actually updating the firmware, right? i can deal with that if it's true.

You would have to hope and pray that some retarded dev compiles an update patch with 3.55 instead of 3.60 so we can steal the eboot, that's the only way new games can possibly work.

Tell me that's not fucking GODLY!? Sadly... it requires 3.41 to operate (since these kinds of JB dongles no longer function on 3.5x+) but hopefully something can be done with the code... so who knows? PS1 backups, region-free Blu-ray and external >4GB? #WINNING |
Well it was definitely real, already been confirmed by several Cobra-owners on the forum. The backup manager and the promised features are all there and everything works exactly as promised .... and now there's more.

Manager v2.0, which are both available from the downloads page. Changes in this release include:
Added the ability to play PS2 ISO backups from CECHC and CECHE backwards compatible consoles. Support for the remaining backwards compatible models, CECHA and CECHB, will come in a future update
PS3, PSX, DVD and BluRay ISO's can now be played without a real disc inserted in the PS3. Support for discless PS2 backups will come in a future update
Added an option for those users without a PS2 backwards compatible PS3 (including Slims) to test PS2 original games and ISO backups using the PS2 software only emulator which is by default included with all PS3's. Please note however that as the software only emulator is slow and very buggy, this feature is disabled by default and is only intended as a gimmick
Cobra USB manager can now make PS3 ISO's from backups in the standard "Jailbreak" directory format, using the copy function
Cobra USB manager is now less strict with cue/bin filenames
Bugfix: Cobra USB Manager was unable to get the PSX CD-ROM/CD-R title, and displayed "PSX-CDROM" instead
____
Bugfix: Under rare circumstances, Cobra USB Manager could dump invalid PS3 discs
The user manuals have been updated to reflect the changes in the v2.0 release. In addition, we have released a PC-side genps3iso tool which can convert backups dumped in the standard "Jailbreak" directory format to the ISO format supported by Cobra. As mentioned above, this is also supported directly within Cobra USB Manager however the process is faster and in our opinion easier to perform on the PC.

BOO~YAH!!
PS1 backups? Check.
PS2 backups? Check.
PS3 backups? Check.
DVD backups? Check.
BRD backups? Check.
Holy Grail of modchips?
