Getting alot of mixed messages regarding Bulletstorm here. So basically if I didn't like DNF there's no point trying out Bulletstorm? I don't care about graphics or story and level design doesn't have to be very sophisticated, but the creative combo kill mechanics looked like fun in the previews.
bulletstorm is much more self-deprecated and ironic than DNF, which makes it infinitely better
I feel sorry for @TheRednerGroup today. We are blacklisted by @2KGames and it seems to be standard practice.

Any Quake and Unreal Engine assets from ’98 and ’01 respectively? Did you receive old builds in the transition from 3DR? Will you ever release them like LameDuke?
Yes, we have access to previous builds of Duke Nukem Forever, but it’s important to note that these are incomplete versions of the game that may not even run on current systems. As such, it’s unlikely they will ever be released publicly. That said, these builds are an important part of the game’s history, and we are looking into ways to share that history with everyone.
I hope we'll see more videos

I don't see why people compare DNF and Bulletstorm. Bulletstorm had a two weapon limit, linear levels and regenerating health too, but the animations were well done, the levels had much more detail than DNF, there were no annoying post processing effects (just standard ue3 bloom) and most of all it had much better shootouts. OK it lacked the "puzzles" that DNF has, but those aren't anything special. Yes, they were inspired by Half-Life. But they just tried to make puzzles like in Half Life 1
Just open up half life today. It is still 100x better, even if the graphics are not as good as in DNF (at least they have a good and consistent style!). In DNF not even the lighting is good. Most of the parts it is just too dark and the HDR sucks donkey balls. It is not immersive and feels like a cheap game, made with some sort of 3D game creator...
Actually it had three weapon limit with each having alternate fire mode.
I don't understand why people keep bringing up that game. Serious Sam, Painkiller and Bulletstorm are in their own category with balls out mindless action. DNF isn't like these games at all and is more comparable to Half-Life. Plus Bulletstorm actually brought something unique to the table with the "skillshot" system.
To me Bulletstorm was 110% console derped, copying game play elements from Gears of War and whatnot, ultimately being a boring shitfest IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. 5/10 for me.
But they're really not comparable, one was started 12 years ago and keeps the gist of what was planned while the other is an on-rails linear console shooter with modern derp-mechanics.
Duke Nukem Forever won't win any prices for being superbly designed game, but for what it was it was nice and fun. 7.5/10 for me.
Even if the game was linear as hell and not particularly inspired gameplay-wise (except for the skillshots) I quite enjoyed Bulletstorm. It provided a decent amount of brainless fun while being also graphically attractive, but I can perfectly understand why many people hate/hated it:
it was very "over-the-top" (typical of Derpzinski's "games") and the uber-on-rail gameplay without puzzles didn't help either, not to mention the annoying qte.

You know what's sad? If you'd actually thought about it for a moment you'd see that most of that stuff is also applicable to DNF. If someone would to say: "Duke Nukem Forever was 110% console derped, copying game play elements from Halo and whatnot, ultimately being a boring shitfest" then that would be pretty accurate description.

But it wasn't. It didn't incorporate any of the (well, except for aim assist for those that use game pads) console specific gimmicks that Bulletstorm was filled with. DNF played like an FPS from 2002-2003 while Bulletstorm embraced all the gimmickry. Duke Nukem Forever did what it was supposed to do, be a sequel to Duke3D. If it managed that or not is a matter of taste, but it didn't reek of console-derpness, it reeked of over-hyped vaporware that was finally released. And as such it was quite enjoying, a simple shooter with a lot of nostalgia and Duke humor.
just beated it...................6/10 in my book....................it could be so MUCH better.....I cant believe I´ve waited 14 fucking years for.....this
Bulletstorm already lacking any freedom of movement puts it below DNF already. Fuck the fact that it looks a bit better, at least it still gives us fucking jump and crouch buttons.
Had this come out when it was supposed to be, it would've been pretty good, although there are quite a few things that annoy me shitless ("tap some fucking button to do shit" - as if it adds something to the gameplay, and only 2 weapons turned out to be more annoying than I thought it would be), as a shooter it does what it needs to do; more so than Bulletstorm did.
Still, too little, too late - this has done more harm than good. Should've been released as a free game instead of putting it out there as if it's the GOTY (I would say AAA title, but 99.9% of those suck balls so ), noone would've complained then.

So what the hell were you doing for the past 14 years? Just waiting for this game?
