http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Generations

Quote:
An unknown enemy causes the appearance of multiple "time holes", forcing Sonic and his friends back in time. As a result, Sonic must band together with his past self to defeat this enemy and fix the timestream.

Quote:
The game features levels derived from 20 years of Sonic history, spreading across three eras: Classic, Dreamcast and Modern.

Each level can be played with either Classic Sonic or Modern Sonic, each taking their own routes throughout the level:

- Classic Sonic's levels are strictly two dimensional side scrolling stages, using classic moves like the Spin Attack and Spin Dash.

- Modern Sonic's levels, on the other hand, carry on the modern 2D/3D gameplay of recent titles such as Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, featuring homing attacks, boosting, and the quick step.

Looks great! I really like the idea of being able to play Classic 2.5D or Modern 3D, that's a verrrrrrry nice touch. In the meantime, there is always Sonic Remix Very Happy

Wish he'd hurry up and release the full game though... heh.

Tomorrow a demo will be released, at least on PSN, but I think XBL as well.

So whoever downloads it for his console please post impressions as I am very interested in this! Smile

I downloaded the X360 demo, but couldn't play it because it doesn't launch - AT ALL - without internet access. Seems like PC DRM measures are making their way to the consoles, soon the lives of console gamers will be as miserable as yours: master race, rejoice!

Someone hacked the demo to make Modern Sonic playable in the level meant for Classic Sonic!!

(Normally Classic Sonic plays the Classic levels, and Modern Sonic plays the Sonic levels)

It plays surprisingly well!!! Despite the fact you are never supposed to use the homing attack or the instant speed boost! Surprised

It's not listed on Wiki as being a PC title, but! there is a link to Sonic Retro and a Steam listing for the beta.

http://www.sonicretro.org/2011/06/see-sonic-generations-beta-on-steam-with-your-own-eyes/

This could be the PC version, but sadly it could also just be the PS3 one.

.... don't read the comments though. Please... for the sake of your sanity...

It's the PC version. Will it be published? Until it's officially announced (it can be canceled; it happened before), we cannot be sure, but we can hope! Smile

Why wouldn't it? Portal 2 is. Valve are pushing the new PS3 Steam platform.

True, it's not impossible, but it is unlikely since the PS3 demo is not using Steam and there hasn't been any announcement regarding Steam functionality so far.

And it's even more unlikely for Sega to make a Steam PS3 version, but no PC version at all.

The most interesting feature of Portal 2 PS3 is that it gives you a code for the PC/Mac version, and it also has crossplay with PC/Mac.

Oh I don't disagree, I was just offering alternatives, lol. There's no point in my getting all excited just because of a Steam listing.

Does it link to a .exe? if so it's not the PS3 edition. Smile

EDIT: Ah the subscription is what is seen and then it links to a testapp, those normally don't show much at all.

I tried the PS3 demo and didn't like it. The amount of blur you get at high speed just makes you vomit instantly. It's basically unplayable since your eyes try so hard to focus and read the environment that you instantly start to cry form eye-strain.
