The shooting is definitely faster and slightly more entertaining but the atmosphere is worse...however, the guy responsible for the first two intervals should be banned from the gaming industry Laughing

Nah, it's not better than fear 2. Fear 3 feels more like a cut price fear expansion than it does it's own game, except you're not paying cut price for it.

The game is budget priced isn't it? Or at least it's supposed to be?
(Digital stores try to set various prices as I notice more and more now - nearly always exceeding retail ones actually - but I paid a little under half of what a full priced title costs here in Sweden.)

That has to be the ugliest thing in the game yet in terms of textures / environment, must have been pressed for memory on this level (interval 06) to cut that dropship thing down like this, nearly reminds me of the dropship model / pods that were featured in Quake 2.
(Though with normal and specular mapping used, to little effect other than smear it all out though kinda like early parallax work like just in Fear 1 for certain hit decals come to think of it.)

So it turns out that that achievement shit will determine the ending you get?
Meh.

Anyway, definitely better than FEAR2: Project DERP but not even close to the original.

Did you install DirectX and more importantly the redists at the end of the installation process?

I've seen other stating this and on NVIDIA hardware (Stuttering also but on both major GPU vendors so it's not related as such though I haven't noticed any stuttering so far myself.), have you tried disabling AA as to test that (Most direct thing I can think of and the main point of FEAR3 DX11 it would appear.) and of course what drivers are you using, if it is the latest official (beta) 275.50 it might be that but if you use a much older driver it could also be a compatibility issue there.
(Also are you forcing anything from the NVCP like SSAO and any different form of AA?, AF should not be a problem.)

This game has the most annoying achievement pop-ups I've ever seen. Any poor attempts at horror it makes get squandered by all the fucking shiny medals.

Not in the UK it isn't, £30 at retail stores on PC, £40 on console. Play have the PC version for £24.99 but they have all pc games for that price as long as they are not Acti/Blizzard games.

I don't see why you're surprised. The game is far inferior in all aspects than the rest of the F.E.A.R. games. From the overall presentation to the actual uber-streamlined gameplay. It should've all stopped right after the second one.

Opinions. For me it´s worse than fear 1, but better then fear 2, mostly for the gunplay and gfx. The coop campaign adds some replay value + the mp is fun. For 20 bucks it´s a bargain.

I personally think the first fear is the best, I loved the atmosphere. But I never thought any of the fear games were "amazing"

So, FXAA or 4x MSAA? Which offers best quality? I can't see much difference between both.

Dunno, can't see how this one is more streamlined than FEAR2, for example.

In terms of how much jaggies they remove:
FXAA >= 4x AA > 2x AA

In terms of sharpness:
2x > 4x >= FXAA

In terms of speed:
FXAA >> 2x > 4x

In the end, my choice is FXAA for pretty good results with amazing performance ( 0(!) - 5 fps loss ) Smile

If other dx10+ games crash as well, raise the GPU voltage:
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=790125&mpage=1
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=340713

Quote:
Hey guys its been a while, lets get to what fixed it for me. DX10 and DX11 would lock up on me and play sounds in the background after no more then a minute. DX9 was usually alright.

I tried all the driver reinstalls suggested, removed HD audio elements, reinstalled Windows 7 and nothing worked still the same crashing. Turning off HPET did help DX11 though I could actually finish a loop of Heaven.

My cards came factory overclocked from MSI (823, 2138) so I checked the voltage they were using, which was 1012mV. This was simply to low. I increased it to 1088mV and DX10 and DX11 run flawlessly now. I ran Heaven in DX10 and DX11 for over a hour and played Crysis Warhead for a hour with no crashes or lockups. There is a thread in this forum with a 580 overclock spreadsheet that can help you dial in the voltage.

Hope this helps you, I am going to go destroy Crysis at 6144 x 1152 resolutions with some eyecandy finally.

Quote:
Hi again, it appears my card wasn't stable at the stock clocks with stock voltages, so i decided to incriese voltage a bit and see if the crashes continued and apparently it's stable now.

I ran crysis benchmark on very high dx10 more for one and a half hours and it didn't crash, also played jc2 with motion blur on and everything for 20 mins and didn't crash. I guess it's stable now but i'll keep doing more tests when i have time just to make sure.

Be carefull with the voltage as you may damage your card.

Quote:
i can confirm this issue. i simply increased the voltages from 1012 stock to 1025 in afterburner and the crashes in dx10 are gone!

so appearantly the voltages have been set too low from the factory. what do i need to do here? ideally for me i would like evga to supply a bios flash utility that slightly increases the voltages but i guess i will have to fork out some cash for rma shipping fees....

Quote:
ASUS have discovered this same issue in the last month and a half or so and have corrected the issue by increasing the min vid to 1.0250 on their parts clocked higher than reference.

Quote:
Fixed: i increase to voltage to 1000 now every thing super fine...crysis & crysis warhead bah bah bah dx 9 or dx 10 all work perfect
