Maybe because the console version will bring at least 4 times as much money as the PC version?

They never put much effort into the pc version, because if they did the game wouldn't have so many stupid design choices and bugs. They just put a lot of effort into the game itself.

Also they should have made a PC specific UI and then made a new one for the consoles instead of making the PC version forced to use such an awful UI clearly created for consoles

What are these "many stupid design choices and bugs"? The UI is a PC/console breed. These guys sadly suck at making a good UI, the first game didn't have a paticularly good UI either. Yes the UI could be fully PC oiented, but that would be expecting too much. This wasn't going to be a PC exclusive, it was said from day one.

Attribute screen UI is not console specific. Try reading those small fonts on 720p display. Not possible.

But what is true is that game is gamepad friendly.

I just did. The smaller the resolution the bigger the fonts, worst case scenario they stay at the same size, wtf are you on about ?

UI is obviously "console-ready" but aside from the atrocious inventory at least the game controls very well with M&K. Unlike DS3.

Let's see:

640x480:

800x600:

1024x768:

1280x720:

Sure, fonts stay at same relative size compared to the rest of the screen. But that means less and less pixel per letter, making font unreadable at lowest resolutions.

And even while 1280x720 is readable at 0.5m from PC monitor, it will hardly be readable from TV, at longer distance.

A "reminder" of how the game looked and played like with little or no "console" touch on it:

ALPHA internal video:

(physics, quick-time events, fighting, larger environments(?), proper dodging)

Damn, that build had so many things that didn't make it into the final game Sad. It was basically an improved version of the first game, not a completely different game and I would have preferred the former...

X360 owners reading attributes ? Hmm. dunno, possible, not likely. So far im seeing PC owners complaining about not being able to hack and slash through the game.. so i dont really think there is much difference between the owners of either platform in terms of derpiness

I'm normally not an RPG guy but I've just finished it (Roche road) and must say it is a very good game. There are still some itty bitty things that could be tweaked for me i.e.:

◄the inventory system: * ranked alfabethically * crafting diagrams you already have could be highlighted * the mutagen upgrades - had to look up the wiki to see what and where they could be applied * when making potions you don't see how many you already have.

◄the invisible borders in flotsdam woods.

◄save system was a bit weird. You could quick and manual save but had no control over them

◄Don't know if this is bad or good but tutorial was very very basic and probably one of the reasons why I had problems in the beginning - certainly the different sings

All in all the combat system was pretty challenging for me in the beginning (got a lot easier near the end though) because I tried to take anyone head-on in the beginning and this doesnt work in this game, certainly when fighting groups so it was actually pretty rewarding to get out of fights ahead.

Only pussied out of 1 fight -> the prospector in Loc Muinne, the alternative option was perfect for me because I waisted a couple of talent point on throwing daggers wich I never used.

Story was good. It' s been a while since I actually read the extra content (characters, loctions, quest progression, etc...)

My first playthrough was with signs and it was challenging at times and fun but my second playing as a swordsman is just too easy. mindless button mashing and after a minute I get to press X and people just die...

Nope, there's no mature story and approach there. There's not about choice, great visual art or true multiple paths in game. Nothing, niente, nada!

Comparing TW2 with Devil May Cry even solely in terms of combat system is... well... bit too much, don't you think?

I played with signs myself, and if you pump all point to Quen and vigor augmentations you get the same result: you're basically invincible (better actually: enemies get hurt by attacking you) and you can just mash the RMB until everyone is dead. By the end of 1st chapter I had to up the difficulty to hard, and by the end of the 2nd it became too easy even on hard... there's simply no challenge when you basically have god-mode on all the time.

Imho, quen is unbalanced, if you want a challenge either don't upgrade it or force yourself to limit it's use.

well it was just as easy and strategic as devil may cry don't u think . i would have preferred a more strategic one like those examples i mentioned that keeps the challenge going the whole game

 Spoiler:

the combat just gets too easy that it turns in to button mashing don't u agree?

I agree that the combat turns easier, but it's far to be a reason to be bored by it.

Also the mentioned Risen, in the Gothic style, has a similar system. The difference is that the rewarding part (owning everyone in combat) comes in TW2 much (too) early. Honestly and personally I am NOT bothered by it. Geralt is a fking badass. Had tons of learning and dying in the Witcher 1 (hard difficulty) so now, for me, it makes sense to be an expert.

If CDP would release a mod kit, I am sure the modded game will absolutely own in every aspect. See Oblivion, Fallout 3, F:NV. Heck, even now there are some interesting mods over at witcher nexus.
