Can't wait to see the rest. And what a perfect utilization of the UE3.

Finally the UE3 is showing what it's capable of, very impressive lighting + textures..Let's hope the gameplay is on par with the visual experience.

I'd say that technically it is on par with Bulletstorm, which already looks rather good. But let's hope gameplay and story here are much more impressive. Laughing

Am I missing something? I don't know what you're talking about, but this, just as Bulletstorm, looks like any UE3 game. The only games on UE3 that look better (that are worth mentioning for their graphics too I mean) to me are Batman and Mirror's Edge.

How does Batman out of all others look any better from a technical standpoint? It looks exactly the same as the others in terms of bloom, colors, lighting, texturing and overall "feel" of the engine. These make use of the lightmass feature of UE3 which at least offer (emulated or not, unimportant) superior lighting. Smile

I still like to think the best use of UE3 thus far was in Mirror's Edge, it was beautiful.

The best UE3 utilization is the new DX11 demonstration done by Epic. Cool Face

All I'm seeing is yet another overly pretentious and inferior version of System Shock.

Levine should probably work a bit more on his actual designs, than on the premises and that hypey marketing mouth.

I agree but the problem is, we'll never see another System Shock neither in this generation nor in the next one. It had too complex mechanics to be played with a gamepad, and since Levine is working only on multiplatform projects, the Bioshock series is the "closest" thing to SS

that we can have at the moment...I know, it's sad.

That's about perception Smile

If someone had the balls and the clout to get a proper SS financed, it could be a big hit.

But you're right, it'll probably never happen.

I just don't react favorably when Levine opens his mouth. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a nice enough dude - but he's getting all the attention Looking Glass should have had.

He's a fantastic premise-guy and salesman - but he's not a good game designer. At least, I've seen no evidence of that.

Don't kid yourself. If you don't put out a game that at least can be played as a retardo derp shooter, it will be branded as overtly complicated and would not sell well at all. What was the last complicated game that sold well on consoles?
Lets see how well Witcher 2 fares.

True but try not to compare it to system shock but to other games of the current generation and it will suddenly become a very good game.

Give SS to the Deus Ex 3 developers. They could probably make a sequel that feels like SS, the same goes for Thief, let those guys handle it. Smile

I'm with Maul on this, after seeing just a portion of how DX3 is turning out; I say give Looking Glass/IonStorm IPs to Eidos Montreal, give them a huge fucking budget, then kick back and let them do their work without interference.

... for one, I'd love to see Anachronox finished.

The author of this article is under the impression that a 15 minute playable demo will be made available for download on GTTV (tonight!) following a 30 minute preview special on Spike! I think he got something mixed up because I haven't been able to find any confirmation of this anywhere. All I am aware of is a 15 minute demo video from E3 will be shown. Check it out:

There's no chance of this happening, it's a misunderstanding.

Because if it was true it would mean that the demo would be released before the game is released but more importantly you wouldn't have to pre order the game for the demo which is highly unlikely in these day and age.
Then again the game is to be released in 2012 so I doubt we will see a demo summer 2011....

TBH nothing at all speaks for us getting a demo anytime soon but I'd be glad to be proven wrong

Here are 3 reasons:

Too early to have stable demo code
Would such an early build manage to pass MS/Sony's TCR process? Very unlikely. Not to mention all the live presentations they've done so far are from the PC version (with gamepad)
If it was true it would be all over the news

edit Ah, okay Smile

The Bioshock demo was released a couple of weeks before the main release wasn't it? And that was about 15 minutes if I remember correctly. Anyway - you're right this must be a total misunderstanding, but he goes on to say....

Quote:
" The chance to finally play the game will surely put GT.TV’s servers under a lot of strain come July 7. You can understand why they decided not to make it available before the holiday weekend."

It just makes you think where the hell was this guy getting his information?
