Ah, chirz then. But I wasn't IE9 is really a good browser.

It is funny, with previous IE iterations, it was so revolting to use IE, that now that it is so good, I experience a strange draw to use it more and more. Laughing

lol wut indeed.

Check the about screen. Now install a real beta version: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/channel/ and check again.

Spot the difference? One identifies itself as beta, the other doesn't.

Installed Firefox 5 final.. Noticed no difference whatsoever. Apparently they worked on making the memory usage smaller and page loading faster. I also noticed that Firefox 7.0a1 is in the nightly trunks. Where's FF6?

@Frant: yep, I noticed the faster loading too (which is obviously very welcomed), too bad that many extensions don't work correctly with this new version, which makes it quite useless for me at the moment :/

It's in an Aurora stage now (Mozilla's new development step which equalizes to Chrome's Canary builds).

And as you've already seen the seventh version going nightly, expect to see the sixth going Alpha. Smile

Laughing

How did you deduce that somehow nightly builds have anything to do with development stages such as alpha, beta and so on? Laughing

It's because I frequently confuse very early builds of software products with nightly ones. Somehow it has gotten into my head that a nightly build is a something like pre-alpha. Laughing My mistake. Smile

ctrl+0 resets zoom here, ctrl+mousewheel still changes size of rendering etc..

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2084239/mozilla-reduce-firefox-memory-usage

Quote:
Mozilla finds a way to reduce Firefox memory usage
At last a solution for its memory bloat

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Mozilla has found that by running garbage collection more frequently on its Firefox web browser, memory usage can be significantly reduced.

Mozilla has had to deal with Firefox's memory usage concerns for years and even though it released Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 in the past few months, doubts still remain over just how lean the browser is. Now it seems that the clever lads at Mozilla have identified an issue with the Javascript engine in Firefox and devised a fix that, judging by testers' results, seems to have significantly reduced its memory utilisation.

Apparently Firefox uses 1MB chunks to keep long living system objects alive. The memory bloat some users were reporting was significant, including one instance where there was a 80 per cent drop in Firefox memory commitment using increased frequency of garbage collection.

This whole memory bloat thing feels a bit outdated since I have 8GB of DDR3. But whatever improves FF the better.

It's funny how firefox gets more bloated with every release, whereas herpa-derp ie9 gets more slick.

OK, I will put FF20 as the major supported version ceiling. That should give me a few months. Laughing
