well more than one person has confirmed that the registry fix works

i havent come across the problem yet so i dont know myself but i created a registry script that deletes that key so when i do come across it should be easy enough to fix

dunno why RLD or FLT havent cracked this yet or 1.01
and from FLTs crysis 2 1.9 nfo it sounds like maybe they have some kind of deal with EA

well the game does crash from time to time if you read even the official forums.. Mine crashes rarely when switching cars in the car lot @ times. HAven't had any racing CTD as of yet.

i think this crash is somewhat connected with this event (maybe some mistake by unlocking LE COntent). Every race in this event crashs and every other works fine

Soo... does that DLC patch do anything to shift2u.exe? Mine is still v1.0.1 and after copying those activation.x86 files there's nothing new in the game...

Ahh crap, so it didn't update mine.
So what now, should I reinstall the game to get the original exe back, or what? Confused

If you are experiencing annoying framerate issues with the game even at low details you can try this mod: http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/shift-2-unleashed-70/no-crowds-no-static-objects-5685/

(it removes all the dynamic objects from the tracks as well as bloom effects and the crowd). It's an extreme solution but at least it works. Razz

Link doesn't seem to work, says Invalid File ID.

This one seems to work though:

Ah yeah, damn it Smile (site issues maybe?)

(though that one isn't the same file as I posted, it's the old 1.6 version made by another user Razz)

Is this game better than the first one? If not, is there mods to make it better?

It's similar to the first one in terms of handling but it has more tracks, more cars and night races; if you liked Shift 1 you'll enjoy Unleashed as well Smile

The only big difference for me was the performance, 50fps (High details, 1080p) in Shift 1 vs. 25-30fps in the sequel (same settings).

Can I just say that after playing GT5 I love this game and its predecessor more than ever? Graphics aside, the handling in this is so much better, but most importantly the sound in GT5 is just appalling. It is ridiculously bad, really Neutral

Maybe I've been spoiled by this one.. Sad

GT5 Reaction

I don't even want to try it... ever! It's the same thing with that shit called Forza. These are 2 racing franchises that I actually hate with a passion.

I also love Shift 2 more than ever, now that it runs properly good, thanks to the new graphics card. Also, I recorded this not so long ago:

http://www.xfire.com/video/51b604/

There's no doubt that it's one of the best racing games of all time!

GT5's graphics are better only when in Photo mode. Otherwise, Shift looks better.

Outside photo mode though..Laughing

Honestly, to think that it's a game that came out a year ago is just sad. You can *see* the upscaling, jaggies all around and *still* it runs like shit, randomly slowing down to below 30 FPS

Edit: maybe I should also clarify that I obviously played it on a 41"/104cm 1080p TV with an HK 5.1 set as well as my 23" 1080p monitor with my amazing Logitech X-...something speakers - sounded equally shit on both, only thing that sounded even worse was the 5W speakers in my monitor Laughing

It's so true. I've had the "pleasure" to play GT5 at friend's house some days ago and it was so bad Razz

Aside from the terrible sound, it's the handling that completely fails imo. The cars behave unrealistically (especially the slower ones) and the whole driving model is still basically the same as GT2 with some tweak here and there. Ultimate Simulation Laughing
