Well, it is quite over-the-top when a 40mm grenade hits a wall and takes not only that out, but also you hiding in the back of the room.

Ah right I forgot about that didn't I, wasn't some of the exploits early on focused on doing just that to get the player(s) and even at times those stations? (in MP matches.)

Or rather how the explosion radius at times ignored obstructions or how the physics had the player crushed or similar.
(Did normal grenades really blow those sorts of holes though - launchers I mean of course not the hand tossed versions - from what I remember it still took three or four hits to get any kind of effect and that's quite a waste in munitions but I guess some people did this, no idea how realistic it is but I guess wood would at least be destroyed eventually though I am unsure how materials are set up in the game, maybe there's no difference outside of bullet penetration capabilities at worst, for BC2 that is.)

EDIT: BF3 will probably end up pretty good but as earlier iterations to the franchise might need a couple of patches first, heh. Very Happy
(Or what to say about it.)

Played BF2 yesterday and i'm glad commander artillery is gone. Instead give us player controlled artillery and a spotter mechanic like bf1942 or forgotten hope.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory had a great artillery system IMO.

I think Recons are to have those support abilities, we should get more info on that soon enough.

As for destruction, it did indeed was a bit over the top, as I have also mentioned before, but it had its moments also.

At one point I remember we were making the last stand on the last remaining MCOM, which was in one of the tougher buildings (the ones that didn't go down from couple of well placed C4s, like most do) and it was pretty reminiscent of that MoH SP level where you were hiding behind the last scraps of cover with barely any walls left, moving from inside the building to behind it...
Moments like that, being entirely unscripted really added a lot to the game. In that regard it might be a good idea to keep the buildings standing.

At the same time seeing an occasional building collapse in a thick of heavy combat on urban maps adds a lot to the feeling of the battlefield as well.

A good balance could be adding some really tough, but still destructible buildings at some key points, I guess.

That was pretty awesome too yeah, although i think we will never see these mechanics again because they are "too nerdy and too hard to use" lol wut

Too nerdy and hard? You just basically had to throw a grenade at a right spot. Razz

But that would mean you actually need to move close enough. How is one supposed to camp and rack up killstreaks with such outrageous gameplay mechanics.

It was introduced in RTCW and then it moved on to Wolfenstein:ET (not Quake Wars - that was the next Enemy Territory).
You could call ET an expansion to RTCW, so it's not that much of a difference Smile

Interesting... no point in rushing in now, since you'd need to get access first, so might just as well wait for official info on this. I wonder if that "try BF3 before anyone else" is about the closed beta, or this Battlelog. Then again, with no BF3, what could we do with battlelog, unless they intend to bring BC2 into it as well.

At first, The game says I need nvidia driver 275.35, while the last one is 275.33.
So maybe there will be more graphic options when it is enabled...

The only options i could change where resolution, which I took 1680x1024.
Graphic Detail: High

- Maps looks good.
- Graphic settings is bugged, probably since the recommended driver version is not yet released.
- Very low recoil, tough there is bulletspread.
- Bullets bounce off metal.
- Surround sound is REALLY good, the sound of the rockets that flew by my head made me smile, explosions are really nice, a good deep drum.
- You can see your own legs when you look down, tough your weapon will stick thru your own leg... =x
- You do not walk fully silent when crouching.
- Infinite sprint.
- Tank can swim and jump (funny bug rofl)
