dispite all the fucking unions efforts to kill the hobbit for all of NZ, the government managed to save it, so it WILL still be made here in NZ. phew. man the union almost won... good to see they didnt.

Wow, your Prime Minister had to actually step in and deal with all this, and made the announcement it is staying there. Laughing

Now that's an actual dedication to admire!

NZ unions didn't want the film to be made there? Why the fuck not?

It's not that they didn't want it to be made there, they just made ridiculous requests for parasites, ah pardon, "local producers" to take large amounts of cash, and Peter Jackson would not have it.

feel like i should stress, its not the unionS, it was JUST the actors that wanted to fuck everything up for everyone else... technical workers n shit marched to show their support of jackson and try to get it made here.. it was just the actors making a stink.

and just reading some comments for "NZ'ers" about all this... its fucking pathetic...

A FEW BUCKS?! A F-E-W BUCKS?! i just want to throttle these turds for being such idiots. yes, clearly nz and its workers would be so much better off if 'them big greedy americans' didnt bring their hundred million dollar productions over here, giving nz'ers work and boosting our economy...

apparently they ran a poll on tv news tonight... over 50% of those who participated, were apparently against this. the fuck is wrong with these people?

Oh nice Smile I always use frame doubling interpolation (48 FPS) for watching movies, the difference is stunning imo.. animated movies looks especially good, very fluid.. even south park lol.. some movies or scenes can look a bit "cheap" though (like its intended for TV). This will look even better i'm sure.

This is a nice youtube movie: the difference between 24fps and 60fps

I read that avatar 2 will be made at 60fps!! Great! Let the rest follow.

Nice!

Altho I don't see why don't they just make whole films in 120 fps? Is that too expensive or?

Besides creating plenty of technological difficulties and no doubt, as you said, financial issues, I'd say that it is also quite unnecessary.
Not only will the difference be quite marginal in comparison to 60fps, but also, at present there is are HDTVs/Blu-ray Players available that are capable of outputting or accepting 1080p image at 120Hz. Not sure how capable are the theatres of handling something like that either.

Does the BluRay standard even allow more than 30fps at 1080p?

It does not. But the standard can move forward in the way of revisions, as it did in the case of 3D.
