ya, but they will close the xbla profile exploit sooner or later, and xkey does not magically allow xbla or dlc to work, so jtag still has its advantages

This new update is to counter the release of x360key, which is due for release this month. This shit is royally pissing me the hell OFF! Fucking "fair play" bullshit between hackers. EVERY TIME a new 360 hack is announced, Microsoft "magically" put out a system update just before the hack is released. Team Jungle and the guys behind the JTAG hack did the same thing (though they vehemently deny it Rolling Eyes); Announce the hack, then TELL Microsoft exactly what they're doing and give them time to counter it, before releasing the hack.

Crock of shit.

Be careful! The new update introduces new AP2.5 challenges. You'll need to rewrite all AP2.5 games in order for them to work. Of course, after the new AP2.5 table comes out (3-4 days).

Source?

@Hfric: xkey is the same exact thing as current dvd firmware hack, with the only advantage of not wasting a verb. Jtag, on the other hand, means XBLA, homebrew, ecc...

A friend of mine just got an error when updating (Fat model, LiteOn, iXtreme LT+ 1.9, latest dashboard update) and was flagged. The drive was not flashed by the update.

Other people that are talking about this problems are here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=733645&st=45

It is recommended to put OFW than update to the latest dashboard.

Just bought a second xbox360 (this time a slim one). I'm sick of flashing it all over and over again, after that an update fails etc etc blegh!

Now I got my 1.9LT+ still running (without newest dashboard that came today, cuz the update fails) and I'd use my new one which I ordered with Fifa 11 (only game I play online right now) to play online with and stay legal.

Hey guys, just updated my console and everything works exactly the same as before (including the AP2.5 games). Didn't flash back to stock before updating either.

What drive do you have? Not sure but I think Hitachis are safe from the whole XGD3 and AP2.5 stuff.

Here is what we know, so far.

13599 Dash Update

DO NOT update on Slim 9504/0272 - they lock the spi on the chip!
The new dash updates AP2.5 challenges. Update if you want live. Stay offline and dont update if you cant wait for new AP2.5 patches.
The update is NOT just simply to set up some background technology for further improvements later this year.
XBL update will give error codes while updating only for LT+1.1 users, and probably result in a flag.
LT+1.9 users will only lose AP 2.5 playability, but can update without problems and not loose their hack.
LT+ 1.9 users - wait for new AP 2.5 patches.

if your getting 335A - 351F - 1380 - 0703 - C000 - 0099 flash back to the OFW LiteOn_Post_13141 Then reflashed LTPlus-025v1.9 all worked, everything but the AP 2.5 titles working, just using original COD:BO for now until new patches are released.
So try flashing back to stock, but make sure you use a post 13141 OFW

I have a question:

I have a really old xbox 360 with a samsung ms28 drive that i use solely for online. I think it has 1.5 firmware. I've been using the wave patcher and it seemed to have worked great (the last game i played on the 360 was la noire). Do I still need to reflash my firwmare or am I good if i just keep wave patching?

If not do I :
flash to stock firwmare
update dash to 13141
flash to lt1.9 firmware

or?

You mean offline, because that console clearly wouldn't last for more than one day online.

Yea I meant offline. I found jungleflasher and flashed it to stock, updated to new dash and then to lt1.9 fw. Works great and i no longer have to patch waves. Didn't realize it gotten so easy to do.

9504/0272 drives will be spi locked and require a modded PCB. MS are flashing these drives back to this FW regardless of what is flashed on the drive, then locking the spi. (and most likely flagging you for a ban in the process, if one was stupid enough to update the dash without the OFW flashed)

0225 drives are, so far, fine. Smile

AP2.5 back-ups will need updated DB for them to work, regardless of what drive you have.

PHAT drives are OK Very Happy Just need to flash back to 'Post 13141' OFW, update dash, then re-flash drive to LT+1.9.

Again, AP2.5 will still not work until update is through.

So if we flash our drives first with the original firmware, can this be bypassed? If not then there is no point in updating. I'm not going to go out and buy hardware to do a software job. God damn Microsoft, it's there system I guess they can do whatever the fuck they want to and it's never easy with them

So these drives are immune to the PCB problem..? How are they different from the first line production ones M$ put out..?

I understand this and it's a pain in the ass sometimes. Depends on how often you play the 4 or 5 games that use it I guess.

Correct. Even if you update first to 13146 dash, which will switch the FW from 9504 to 0272, and then update to the 13599 dash and flash with LT+ 1.9, the 13599 dash will still rewrite the OFW 0272 before 'locking in' the spi. This ensures that the OFW is locked in and not the LT+. (Clever) A modded replacement PCB is the only way to go ATM, as these can be prevented from writing to via a lock switch.

0225 drives can't be written to as they are write protected. These also require an unlocked PCB, which are available now, but mostly all sold out everywhere, but can be flashed with new slim LT+1.9 FW.

In a nutshell, MS have pretty much buggered up the 'slim' side of things, for the time being.

what's this bs about x360key being useless now?
how can they effectively destroy something that can be flashed with a new and improved fixed firmware?
you know, like with the dvd drives thus far, but even more so.
when you're emulating hardware you can tell the other end of the wire what ever lies you can think of.
how do you fight that?
sounds more like a FUD campaign to get people buying pcb boards and x360usb instead (which amounts to the same price, btw)
