If only that was true, would at least bring *some* merit to the ridiculous claims made about them
What kind of horrible noob would manage to crash the OSX installer?! There is only 1 thing to do, and really 1. Not babysitting the computer and still enter information like with the Windows installation.
You only have to insert the dvd and the OS will wipe the hard drive and reinstall itself. Takes half an hour or so but everything is handled automatically.
And no I guess Macs aren't made for you, the 1337 programmer/haxor category.
Yeah, because you actually have to sit through these painful 15 min installation procedures of W7!!11oneeleven
you sound like Ronhrin but for macs...

Yeah, because OS X doesn't ask you which drive to install on at all either. Nor does it ask you what language and keyboard layout you want. Doesn't ask you to set up a user account or anything either. Nope, it just reads your mind and does all of that automatically
Takes me a whopping 12 clicks to get Win7 installing, at which point it takes about 15-20 minutes for it to fully finish. And unlike OS X, it'll actually support pretty much any hardware straight out of the box. Haven't installed a printer driver in over 2 years; the only driver I need to install on my own PC is the ATI driver because I want to play games. I could run off the driver it grabs off the net, but that's usually quite out of date so not really desirable (same for NVIDIA). So it installs quicker than OS X, actually supports decent hardware out of the box (face it - the hardware in an iMac sucks balls and a Mac Pro is just...) and can run on most systems. Where exactly does OS X get better or easier?
Less making bullshit statements if you don't have a clue.
And just for the record, that above is just installing on a PowerBook - very common to see retarded messages like that. You've had a Mac for 2.5 years, so PowerBooks are from "before your time", that's why you wouldn't know. It's all caused by Apple being to lazy to recompile some packages, so on some configurations it'll just randomly crash. Also quite amusing how PowerBooks are incapable of booting from any USB device (external CD/DVD drive, hard disk or thumb drive - forget it, none will work), again because Apple were too lazy to include that in their firmware.

Not made for my grandfather either, he finds XP and especially 7 easier to use - and I only built him his first PC about 5 years ago. How about that, a 79 year old figuring out Windows quicker than OS X.
Guess it's not for people in the graphic industry anymore either, because they have to recompile the pstops filter because Apple are too lazy to do that. Shame really, because it's that industry which kept Apple from going bankrupt long ago.
Fail troll is fail.
Edit: still waiting for a good counter argument to anything I've said in any of your threads, or are you just going to disappear from this one and ignore anything anyone says as well?
Edit #2: Mac users on this forum, please don't take offense to what I wrote above. I have nothing against OS X, but I can't stand someone as obsessed as Rofl_Mao, who just randomly pulls shit out of his ass and presents it as a fact/argument while really he doesn't know the first thing about anything.

Let me ask you a question: why did Macs become a worldwide commercial success? Why has Apple become a strong brand? Apparently a lot of people appreciate it. Not much of a question since I'm giving my own answer but you get the point.
Macs apparently don't suit your specific needs. Seems to me that's perfectly fine! The Mac happens suits my needs somewhat better than a Windows PC. What it all boils down to is I don't have the same needs as someone else. Some people like to use that as an argument to call others ignorant -- I think that's just plain arrogance. And I'm not saying Mac is perfect, I just think it's the better choice in my situation. I don't see the point in bitching like vegetarians and meat eaters.
So... how the fuck did we end up in the Mac vs. PC discussion

Because of their unique cosmetic design, not because of the OS (as most of it comes from other places and is hardly original) nor because of the hardware (because that is actually pretty fucking bad). Apple USED to be the platform of choice for the graphic industry because a lot of software was designed for them; right now it's actually the opposite. Even AGFA are ceasing support for OS X in their software, and they're about as big as it gets. It is that industry which kept Apple alive 15 years ago and it's that industry which they're slowly fucking over with retarded policies and design choices, as well as just shoddy work in many places.

I call you ignorant because you make bullshit statements. I've said time and again that there's nothing wrong with OS X, but every time you make a thread it's you expressing your obsession with Apple. There are many things OS X does right, but just as many things it does wrong and it is just no better or worse than many Linux distributions or Windows (especially Win7). Same goes for iOS and Apple in general. I personally use Ubuntu most of the time (neither OS X nor Windows are as flexible), but I've set my interface as a mix of OS X and Windows 7 with Ubuntu's own sauce thrown on top.
We ended up in this discussion because you once again made some false statements based on thin air without bothering to back them up. On top of that, you try to take these stabs at me with the "1337 coder" nonsense.
Yes, I'm a bit more of a tech guy than you, but that doesn't make me an elitist or anything. I just know my shit (usually anyway ) and I'm not afraid to back my statements up. If I'm proven wrong, I'll happily accept that; several people on the board done that (fuck you all, especially Leo ). You on the other hand simply ignore it all and that is quite simply annoying. If you just said you prefer OS X and Apple stuff instead of saying it's better than other OS's, that would've been different. I've never called you ignorant because you prefer OS X; never even used the word ignorant in fact, but that's another matter. I know many people that do (half of my colleagues do), it's just that you sit there with all the other Apple obsessed folk dribbling over anything they create despite most of it being unoriginal and then sold at double the cost - meanwhile calling it the most innovative thing in the world.

@ Rotfl_mao: "argument from popularity" = logical fallacy.
What argument from popularity, I no comprende
My point is I'm using something I like -- someone else seems to disapprove or even wants to make a fuss. I can paraphrase Steve Jobs' Stanford speech: I'm not going to live other people's lives. I think someone else's preferences are exactly that: someone else's business. I like to be open to suggestions but if I'm not convinced I'll still follow my own instincts.

Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
To be fair these two statements mean the same thing. Whenever someone says "better" it implies subjective opinion.
Unless you are Ronhrin in which case it implies universal philisophical truth and possibly cocks everywhere.
Not always though. I can easily say any Eizo monitor by definition is better than the 90 Euro stuff you can get even at places like Aldi these days. No opinion in that, that's all fact. Depends on the context
lol. So you also treat people for having a relationship with a Mac?
I thought about the "argument from popularity" you mentioned. Because Mac is commercially successful wouldn't automatically make it the right choice. I don't think there is a "right choice" in this case. It's not a black and white issue. It's a matter of taste, like in music. Some people like to think their taste is the right one, but a lot of other people may think completely different about that issue for a wide variety of reasons. So we're not talking about facts but opinions here. Some people like to present their opinion as facts or the truth, that just seems arrogant and narrow minded to me.
I don't believe Mac is generally "better". It is more suited to my individual needs and preferences. That's about all I need to know. What someone else likes -- that's their business. I don't like to tell people what is and what isn't right.
I can say Werelds' comparison between Windows and OSX was very interesting. What I didn't like as much was the increasingly agitated tone, which is unnecessary. (This isn't a black and white matter.) As long as you're talking to me at least -- I think a little politeness is not too much to ask even if you disagree heavily. Bitching or swearing will only drag you down or make you lose credibility. Besides: that I'm pleased with my Mac hasn't got anything to do with you or your arguments. Seems fine by me if you like a PC for the reasons you described, but I can't say I'd make the same choice in my personal and different situation.

well, the matter about the right choice is what we tried to reason with you for a while now. There isnt a one-fits-all solution (apart from the amiga maybe ) and commercial success (which is also VERY debatable in the case of apple, when looking at the measly 10% market share in the computer field) isnt an indicator for good engineering.
Apple had the luck of having a break in the mp3-market with their ipod, which in turn gave them the money to do the iphone and also spruced up their computer sales. What we are talking about is brand, not tech. And they have survived by dumbing down choices. Where people are overwhelmed in the pc world, they have only to think about colour-choice and model with a mac. They also live by the effect of cognitive dissonance (it looks good, i payed a lot, so i have to really think it is awesome, when at best it does the same things as all the other alternatives do).
and talking about polite: you started the thread with a passive-aggressive attack at werelds. To now lecture him on manners is re-dick-you-lass.
