Hey , Is there any program that can fix these slow start up problems im having its just it takes a long time to start windows,
Booting up is fine but when I logon to windows it takes so long to load the icons , even the taskbar takes forever to load.
Zonealarm keeps complaining about the True Vector Service waiting to load that stays on the screen for about 10mins normally the system hangs and goes back to normal about 15mins later.

Also without any apps running in the background the memory usage is 50%
:S

I also noticed the other day firefox was taking up 123MB of my RAM?
Why so much?

Ive checked my system for spyware etc.. So it cant be that
Task manager says 52 processes are running is there a good app that can stop useless programs from starting up?

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?

Specs :

2.7ghz P4
768MB RAM
80GBx 2 HD's
9600 Radeon Pro 128MB
Windows XP Normal (Not That SP2 Crap on it Razz)

i got 29 including norton.

try disableing some services.

start/run/services.msc

but 52 processes is way to much.

Yeah, 52 is alot lol , Ill try disable some of them with the services.msc hopefully should start booting up quicker, But ive just looked at my taskmanger now its 46 processes Svchost.exe is one of the highest on my list and its running like 6times :S

I have 54 on my work lappy (most of which are "security" stuff) and I see no performance issues. You have to look after your PC's, defrag after uninstalls and mass deleting, make sure the apps you install aint filled with crap..

do a scan with Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy and that Microsfot Spyware Scanner.

Also do a Virus Scan with Anti Vir and Panda Online Scan Smile

My PC takes a good 1 - 3 mins to boot up Sad

I tryed defraging C: Keeps compaining that the disk is ready for a scan
and to type chkdisk /f or something like that , when i do that it just says the disk is locked ,

Also is there any good apps to find out about a wi-fi connection?
The windows one is not very useful....

that's because windows is using the disk Wink

right click on your C: drive/select properties/ select the 2nd tab extra/

first option check disk/ now you get a screen where you can check 2 things, do that and press scan.

You get a message that states to do the scan after reboot.
press yes or ok and reboot.

its the same as chkdsk /f Smile < that only works if your not in a windows enviroment. so before booting that means Smile

Ok , Windows Runs CHKDSK when i restarted , But when i try and defrag i still get the same message , 'Windows Has Detected CHKDSK Is Scheduled to run on windows' , But its already done it? So why do i keep getting this message :S
