So what im wondering is how or if possible to rerout the sound from the onboard card to my creative xtreme soundcard via hdmi connected to the gfx card. Possible? Because the sound quality is really shitty compaired to the one installed and somehow it seems like its killing my sub when playing music

I am not sure what is it you want to do. Why do you need to reroute it, if you can use any soundcard you want to output the audio?

yeah i think you need to tell the OS what sound device to use, not reroute it internally

What i really want to do is to use my real soundcard, since the onboard soundcard sounds like shit compaired.
And i cant really change the audio device whem im connected to the tv. The only solution i know of is to stretch a 5m extension cable from the speakers, and i really dont wanna do that.
If i disabled the onboard card in Bios would that chance anything?

Ill start over..
Ive got my tv connected to the pc via the hdmi on the gfx card.
From the tv im running optical from the tv to the z5500 surround speakers.
If i connect directly from the reviever with the colored wires to my creative xfi xtreme music i get the ability to run the equalizer that came with the soundcard. Then everything is fine.
BUT:
When i change the output from my headphones which is connected to the comp atm and not the speakers cuz i dont want to stretch cables all over the apartment to the TV i get the mobo onboard soundcard which sounds shitty, and i cant seem to change it in any settings to my creative card.
How can i get the hdmi on the gfx card to use the sound from the creative and not the mobo onboard card?

I'm still confused.
if your running HDMI from the video card..it has nothing to do with either the onboard or your SB card..the video cards outputting the sound.
you cant 'force' it to use any sound device you have to output it from the HDMI..the HDMI is doing it itself. like a HTPC, you dont even NEED a soundcard for the HDMI to output the sound with the video.
so your saying the HDMI sound to the surround sounds like crap?

Things are getting a bit clearer, but still not quite
As far as S/PDIF goes, while true, it wouldn't matter much which one he uses - since the output is digital, all the processing is done on the device he is connecting it to. The effect on the audio quality will be minimal, if at all. And that only in regards to the HDMI output, in that case. So if he needs to get his soundcard audio through the HDMI, than that would be the only option to do it indeed. Otherwise HDMI audio is either from the soundchip on the GPU itself, or using the S/PDIF connection from the onboard MB audio (again - hardly any difference in quality by itself).
Still trying to figure out what happens though. When you disconnect your headphones your audio switches to onboard (I am assuming via HDMI connection and through the TV, since the way I see it, there isn't anything connected directly to your onboard), but you want to it to go through the colored wires from your soundcard? If that is the case (although seems odd) It still should be switchable through the OS, by switching to your speakers as the default playback device (assuming you are using Windows Vista/7).

Well there is no way to do that through HDMI, unless you do what velum suggested, but this only works if your video card doesn't have it's own audio chip for HDMI output.
If your sound is going to the speakers anyway, why use HDMI, why not just output the sound separately from your soundcard?
