They want to be sure WoW doesn't add any new herpaderp features before they release their game so that they can implement every derp feature in there to maximize sales!

That's an insanely bold statement.

Yeah I read that too and got very concerned. I mean, if that's the case the game might be more like a single player game with a story, but has a mmo tacked on.

Of course a story is good. But if they just put every player on their on path playing on their own most of the time it kind of kills the whole mmorpg-idea?

Oh well, time will tell. We know that bioware can write story, but a mmorpg are new water for them. We'll see if they can pull things off.

After playing the beta, I'm not sure how they could say that you'll never see duplicate content. I'm seeing duplicate content on my Inquisitor and Operative in the 2nd big zone. All the flasphoints are the same. The game is pretty good and the story is interesting, as each class has their own story, but there are shared quests, zones, etc.

So, are there lots of go to X, kill all Y, return and the quest is gone type of quests, or is most of the stuff you do story-driven and diversely relevant in the dynamic nature of the game?

I've gone from thinking that I will likely buy this game to recently where I'm just completely disillusioned. This game just does not seem like a true MMO to me, and it doesn't seem like it is an RPG either in the sense that you have lots of different stats and that your choices affect not only your character but your surroundings and their reaction to you.

What I liked with KOTOR1&2 was the fact that depending on your choices the game shifted, and the way they spoke initially was that this game would be just like KOTOR1&2 except on an inifitely larger scale with thousands of other players. That was what made me interested in this game. But now your classes are predetermined, and there's a red string taking you down a very repetetive maze to a certain endgame. The fact that your choices dictate whether you go far into the darkside or not seems really shallow to me. The fact that this game seems very static, as in no randomly generated content, or content influenced by player interaction seems like a very limited way of making the game.

I think unfortunately that I will pass.

A guy I work with has Beta access and a few have asked him to bring the beta to work so others can see but he says that the beta client is locked to your pc via motherboard and hardisc serials. I don't know if he is talking crap just because he don't want to share or if it's true, it's certainly possible I guess.

He's pretty much talking crap.

It's not locked at all, but if they notice your account logging in from different IP's and what not frequently, they'll block it.

It's complete bollocks. I played my uncle's account, different IPs, heck, different countries. No repercussions whatsoever.

Also, the game is a piece of shit WoW clone.

I was talking about SW:ToR with my EVE-Online corpmates who apparently have tried the beta. According to them this game is actually worse than world of warcraft in that there is very little diversity in terms of quest content and PvP. Also, apparently no loot drops when you die. Basically you can go ahead and kill people without any loss whatsoever. =S

The only thing they liked was that there was a lot of good voice dialogue. Other than that they say it's "shit".

Well 60% of the game size are voices, so if it didn't have good voice dialogue I'd be very puzzled Razz

Yeah but I'm not sure you should be listening to advice from EVE Online players. That game requires a specific taste and they are obviously not used to "normal" MMOGs. Especially since they're surprised that no loop drops in PvP (which is pretty common in most MMOs).

Yeah, why listen to people playing the MMO that has the best PvP-content of any game ever released when I want to PvP?

If there's no punishment for losing á la Diablo 2 or EVE-Online, then it's a PvP-game for weak ass rainbow-lickers. v0v

It's kinda funny because I've actually stopped rolling on PvP servers in MMO's without consequences to death. I try most AAA MMO's and PvP servers is just like a death match. You run in, you die, you respawn, you run in, you die, rinse and repeat indefinitely. It's just no point. Dying is just a nuissance.

In EVE if you die you loose everything you're currently "carrying". In EVE because the steep consequences you never run in like a retard. Well some do but they die quickly. In EVE you take your time, you try to plan everything to your advantage and then when you attack you get a rush you will never get in a game without consequences. That's why I'm still playing EVE after 5 years.

ultima online ftw...

nothing beats PKing some random idiot, killing his horse, looting all his stuff, then butchering his corpse and looting his head for good measure, all the while he's standing right next to you as a powerless ghost and cries "OoOoOoOOoo".

Good times...you don't get stuff like that anymore nowadays. it's all way too casual friendly Sad
