Well, this has to be the game i'm most excited about, screenshots don't look too good though, hopefully it'll look better in time and in motion.
And unless EP 3 is coming out next year (yeaahh riight) this has to be THE game of 2012.
It just keep getting better and better, they better not do a Peter Molineux and crap their pants with unkept promises.

It all sounds too good to be true, especially when you compare it to todays 'standards'.
and wasn't Dark Messiah of Might and Magic's a bit rushed ?

And? Have you played Arx Fatalis or Dark Messiah? The guys at Arkane are actually gamers and love the real gaming (a thing that you can easily see when you play their games), not some random people that make video games, even though they don't have the slightest idea of what is that, like in most studios from gaming these days. Dark Messiah isn't that old and it wasn't a derp game at all, it was a fucking masterpiece in my opinion, a true PC game. I have no reason to not trust them yet.

The whole time freezing and possess thing sound fucking nice. It reminds me of Timeshift, which is one of my favourite shooters ever. What I used to do in that game was freeze time, take the crossbow, put a bolt in each enemy and then unfreeze time and watch how every enemy was blown to pieces Laughing. Having the ability to play with time in games is definately a very good thing for me, I just love it.

So is it close to coming out then? I've not heard anything about a release date, yet there seems to be previews already Neutral

~edit~

I mean aside from the blunt "2012" guesswork. Q1? Q2? Later?

edit: we don't know

It's Quakecon, and Bethesda have chosen to also promote their other games now that they own id.

The release date is Q2 2012. The above preview says several scenes are rough and need polishing.

I think it already looks fantastic, and I have high hopes for it. My main question is, will it as an experience beat Risen II for me, because as far as '12 goes, that looks most promising to me.

That will remain for you and only you to decide when you play them both. I can't see those 2 games compete, ever. Both Arkane and the Piranhas have very unique and good styles, but they are very different too. Also, the game looks good, nothing special, though I wonder how it looks in motion, as Dark Messiah (and Arx Fatalis too) didn't look especially good either in screenshots, but they still look amazing in motion even today.

Ok, so roughly mid-2012? At least it's better than hyping a game only to announce a 3-5 year release date Razz Thanks guys.

Also want to add my drooling lust for this game since reading the details in gi mag and now getting more tasty morsels.. Expectations can't be much higher which is both good and bad, bad mostly because it will be so long to wait. Hopefully they will be realized somewhat when we finally get to give it a spin. Really the most compelling feel I have for the game is like a modernization and refitting into FPS form the classic Arcanum, the steampunk rpg. I know everyone is making comparisons to Bioshock and Thief, but I hope I am not wrong in my impressions and maybe a little wishful thinking. However if it does bring back the themes and also even a fraction of the freedom in approaching the goals of that game, well... let's just say I may lose another 100+ hours into this one.

As much as I loved Bioshock I think this game is shaping to be much much better. I don't know Arcanum cause I generally don't play RPG games but I've heard very good things about it, so Dishonored looking similar to it just takes the expectations to higher levels. I hope I'm not wrong either.

P.S: In my case I've got an HL2 vibe from the released screens, don't know why I've been reminded of City 17 and the regime, etc.

It's because Antonov is handling the overall art direction of the game.
Meh, if Thi4f fails i hope at least this succeeds. Don't get me wrong, Bioshock Infinite looks fantastic, but those tech demos always look way to prerendered and are playing out like a movie instead of a game, and if they keep the 2 weapon shit, i'm gonna be so dissapointed.
But now that i think of it, Half-Life 2 had this 2 weapon thing back in the 2003 tech demos, to be more exact the Dried up seabed demo.

They really need to show this in motion, it all sounds fantasic even if i'm not a fan of superpowers and shit like that, but the game clearly is more in the vein of Thief games than anything.

Corvo repeatedly stabs the weapon into an unsuspecting guard?s back -- which in turn drops a pistol for him to equip in his off-hand for dual-wielding.

With what looks like a user-friendly auto-aiming reticle (think Goldeneye, in terms of its willingness to compensate for your aim), it becomes clear that shooting isn't really the focus of Dishonored

Ok that the game is focused on stealth, but I hope this "derp-gen feature" can be completely deactivated.. :/

What do you expect, 1UP and IGN are the same console-oriented trash, it wouldn't surprise me if the previewer actually played it with a gamepad.

"currently playing: Halo Reach and Pokemon Heart Gold". Go figure Laughing
