Hey, so I have a wired cable modem from my cable provider. It has one ethernet output.

I want to surf with my notebook and computer at the same time. So I thought about getting a wireless router with LAN ports. The computer will be connected via LAN cable and the notebook wireless.

Which type of router do I need for that and what would you recommend? Any special setup I have to keep in mind? Smile

*don't want to spend tooooo much on the router either... <50€ possible?*

I heard that routher with internal modem won't work and that is the problem here Sad I just want the router to route and not connect to the net. I have three different wireless routers here from telekom and none of them seem to work Sad

I would suggest Linksys WRT54GL as well. Drop a DDWRT or Tomato custom firmwares, and you have a pretty amazing capabilities. Smile

Yeah, you seem to be able to add an ad slot too. Crazy stuff.

And I realized that I don't have USB 3.0 on my motherboard and will get the 1TB USB 2.0 HD Sad

Check sleakdeals.net for a refurb if you want to save money. Something like Cisco Linksys E2000 Wireless N Dual Band (not simultaneous) 4-Port Gigabit Router DD-WRT/Tomato Compatible (refurbished) would be a great choice, which sold for $28.50 few weeks ago.

Why not just use the phone? Hook it up and find a software that emulates webcam HID?

that

The wrt54g(l)(s) is a good choice.

The cheapest choice is a DIR300 from ebay for ~10€ - works with dd-wrt, too. great as repeater if you need one one day.

well - you can transmit via wlan and carry your cam around?!

I had some software for an old nokia, too. but even the Samsung Wave (bada) had some software for that. So I`m confident there`s something for android, too.

Search for it lazy duck...

Oh and when you found something, post it here! Very Happy

I use one of these so i can broadcast wifi to my mobile device in the house.
My main rig has ethernet only from my cable modem.
@ under £6 it's a absolute bargain.

Though the abit drivers wont work on 7 or vista the arthos drivers work.

Fucking WRT54GL. Constantly capping my speeds!
this is my result when I attach my cisco directly to my pc.

and with the wrt54gl connected via lan, I have incredible 20mbit/s download speed. Fucking piece of shit. I will install tomato just to give it a last chance and if it doesn't work, I'll go to alternate and grab the next best whatever, because that can't be as shitty as this pos.

Updated from firmware 4.30.14 to 4.30.16 and it went from 20 mbit/s to 43mbit/s.

Strangely I always had like 40mbit/s and just recently it dropped. Will also try tomato.
