Ehm... Vampire Bloodlines failed miseralbly, although the game was received pretty good. I really hope this game is going to be good! Really looking forward to this one. Arnold Vosloo! Razz

Warren Spector : I never minded piracy. Anyone who minds about piracy is full of shit. Anyone who pirates your game wasn’t going to buy it anyway!

Boiling Point: Road to Hell Gone Gold

According to BoilingPoint.net, Boiling Point: Road to Hell, the game unveiled in July 2004 and officially announced back in October 2004 by Atari, has been approved for manufacturing (thanks: Blues). In Boiling Point: Road to Hell, gamers will travel to the present day jungles of South America and battle competing factions in a brutal guerrilla war. The game, previously known as Xenus, will offer a non-linear gameplay experience, with no loading times or separate levels, a continuous world spanning hundreds of miles, various vehicles and weapons, hundreds of missions and more. The upcoming 3D FPS/RPG, in the works at Deep Shadows and powered by the Vital 2 engine, will be released in the UK on May 20, 2005.

Cool, you can trade guns and stuff by packing them in the boot of your vehicle.

The game's great. I played the preview version (nope, not making it up - I'm in Russia, the local publisher is here in Moscow and yes, they're my publishers too so I got to play the game a few mins at their office) and really enjoyed it. Yup, the gfx r not hi-end (GREAT but not top-of-the-line) but the game's not about gfx but about freedom and non-linearity. GTA3's gfx sucked but nobody gave a damn shit due to the gameplay and the fun. Same here - the gameplay is awesome so you can pardon the absence of DX9.666 shaders and other 1337 6800-only stuff made for room-sized closed spaces.

Sounds good. I hope that what you say is true Wolf. I don't really care about the gfx, as long as the game will have good gameplay, and above all FREEDOM!

I can't wait.

I love games that give you lots of freedom, especially in this because you can get planes and helicopters to traverse the massive virtual world.

Imagine you get a job to kill some drugs baron, so you set out in your plane land near his mansion, sneak in, kill him but then all his goons come after you. So you run into the jungle and manage to get back to your plane and take off, with shots being fired all around.

Would be awesome!

Initial impressions:

After all Bishop's negative comments i was expecting the worst but it wasn't
that bad!

But it needs work.

AI as mentioned isn't good, they can't drive that's for sure! wink

However i did attempt to shoot a rat which caused everyone in the area to start
running and several people started shooting at me! which i wasn't expecting.

Driving cars feels wrong, either that or i just suck.

I got drunk on a bottle of tequila - wierd colours appear on screen and you sway
left to right... you really lose control, it's a cool effect.

I accidently fell of a roof (up here is not a good place to be drunk! smile )
injuring my legs causing slower movement and limping.

Then i had a helicopter after me due to my earlier rampage so i snuck into the
jungle, here i came across a what looked like a BBQ but on closer expectation
the meat was described as "Body Part" so i didn't hang around there for too
long. It was night time and raining - i sneazed. Helicopter still after me but
eventually i escaped only to attempt to cross a river and get killed by pirahna's!

The good news it that there is a good game here it just needs some work.

If AI, car handling and most of the bugs get sorted it should be great.

Anyway, i need to go and play properly now! wink

Due to my earlier rampage around town, i had a helicopter after m

Some games you just know you're gonna love and this is one of them!
Hopefully the devs have tweaked the driving abit, have heard about the stiff feel of driving vehicles on a few sites.
Gonna be cool to take some drugs and then attack an enemy camp using a heavy machine gun screaming "Say Hello to my little Friend!"

Doesnt sound too promising..

"I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10 in its current state. Would still buy it, but
then I love my RPGs and will pay money for all kinds of rubbish. The average FPS fan probably won't get on with it but RPG fans should enjoy it. I think we're used to putting up with bugs and poor graphics, sorta comes with the terroritory."

Perhaps a great game in a few months though (if they release a patch to fix the AI etc)..

I don't really care, I mean you loved thief 3, while lots of others thought it was shit compared to the prequels. Everyone has different opinions on what constitutes a good game, so lets wait and see.

I think as long as you don't expect too much from it you'll be pleasantly suprised.
