Posted: Mon, 16th May 2005 22:33 Post subject: I am a complete fucking badass. |
|
 |
For the past 12 years I have poured my heart and soul into lifting. It is my life, basically. Maybe I am extreme but I think with that effort comes respect.
In the past four years I have been in 6 fights. Ranging from a Belk store to a Dollar General to Sanford Stadium in Athens, GA watching a Georgia football game. It seems as if many folks out there who have never even SEEN a weight room don't understand the effort that it takes to build a good body. At times it infuriates me and, other times, it just baffles me to the level of misunderstanding. Am I the only person who feels this way or has encountered an ignorant public?
When I walk in a room I demand respect. I am NEVER a jerk but there is a certain level of respect I demand. Maybe just a simple nod or gesture or a comment. It happens time and time again that I will walk in a room and folks will snicker or point at me. Was in a Dollar General in Greenwood, SC about 2 months ago and two guys just started laughing when I walked in. No joke. Just laughed. They got it. I mean they really got it. I was just fed up. Guys, it is not anything for me to whip a man's ass. I do not say that lightly, either. I will kick any man's ass who does not show me at least SOME level of respect. With the years of effort I have put into my body the least I demand is some type of respect. At sporting events I don't wait in line for concessions. Ditto for the bathroom. This is what caused the problem in Athens, GA at the football game. Guy started running his mouth about breaking in line. I calmly just told him did he realize the amount of effort I put into lifting and the level of respect that came with it. He gets all confused and just continues to tell me to go to the back of the line. I put him down hard and then just flexed. NOT to show off but to simply convey to everyone else the amount of effort I had put into my body. Basically, HE determined my actions, not me.
It just seems as if some folks don't get it. They truly DON'T get it and seem to think that bodybuilders are just like any other person. I am NOT a jerk but I do demand respect when I am out in public. Not talking about anything overboard but just a simple show of respect for what I have accomplished and for what I do.
I guess I am partly venting but also asking a serious question if any of you guys experience the same type problem when dealing with the public as a whole?

The above taken from a forum on bodybuilding.com. I didn't write it, I just thought I'd share.

A)Whirlwind...i understand what you are trying to state here but there will always be 2 kinds of people. People that admires you for what you have become, and people that don't care about what you've achieved.
B)It's good to see that that there are also non-fat people on nforce...
C)You could rephraze your text from little-arrogant to non-arrogant.

I train a bit, keeping in form and also will start now as well ninjitsu, but I dont expect people to think what I have done is any good. That you get a nerd that spends hours and hours in gyms and cant hold it that people thinks he is a gym nerd who spends way too much time, then tough luck for him.

Hah.
The thread DID get deleted.
Very interesting. As the thread progresses, you could see that either he's completely off his rocker or a pretty good troll.
My gf pointed it out (she's a regular on bodybuilding.com and shares funny posts w/ me).
I lift pretty hard, follow a pretty strict lifting schedule, and eat pretty well. I don't act anything like that guy at all. I offer people advice (not on a professional level, I don't have certification to do that) because I get asked a lot of questions about how I train and how I can help other people get to where they want.
Anyhow, it was a good laugh while it lasted.

why would you deserve respect for lifting?
i dont walk in somewhere and demand respect because i can play tetris very well? or i have a big dick? or i can play good darts or whatever.
You deserve respect, but not because of the lifting. Just because you are a human being, but nothing more....

Why bother to copy a thread from some other forum? Why not copy a thread from every other forum you visit, then we can laugh at what idiots you frequently converse with.
No, just don't bother, there is no point. If we wanted to talk about much cock body builders suck we would go to a body builders forum.

What an idiot. Just because he lifts weights doesn'y mean he'll get my respect. If he would lay a hand me I'd sue his fucking ass. The only way to get respect from me to such a fucking jerk he'd have to be a fucking brain surgeon or end global hunger. Dumbass there must have some real shrunken testicales to have such a short fuse. If he reads this, GO FUCK YOURSELF (not you Whirlwind).

The steroids made him paranoid!
An old friend of mine started going to fitness clubs and taking that shit too, in 2 weeks time he thought he looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger or something, and he got a really big attitude... These guys are all the same

respect is earned and has nothing to do with lifting weights.
and there's more to fighting than lifting weights.

I’ve seen guys built like a fighting bull charge head first toward an officer and the officer took them (instructors) down with a few easy self defense moves...
I never understand what the point of going NUTS with muscle is.. I like to have a little muscle, to be healthy and exercise to keep in shape... but to go every day for an hour or two, count every calorie is just nutty... its just like blonde air heads who spend all day in front of the mirror fixing their hair and such...
And that respect bullshit is crap.. I might laugh too if i see you come into a store... and you try and hit me, all you will get is 6 months in jail for punching me...

I think improving your body has something to do with respect. If you really work out hard and spend alot of time in the gym, you have alot of self respect. Building up a muscled body is hard, It's not just going so many times a week to the gym, it's diet, it's eating the right things at the right amount and knowing how to do exercises according to schedules.
Anywayz, I think the guy who originally wrote this is a fucking idiot. I have never charged anyone for their bodies. One thing is true though, a good body will get you laid many more times than a fat person or a person which is skinny. We can can all agree on that, it has alot to do with personality as well, but let's say you'll get attention from chicks at the beach alot faster when you got a six pack.

Most the "beefy" guys I know are really nice ppl. They usually bulk up because they were insecure about themselves at some point or wanted to get the chicks or because of their type of work. There are some who act like dicks tho.
