Ah I forgot about that, I'll get the (this time completely updated.) files uploaded, in case it's needed.
(Guess it helps if there's nothing else available, unsure how it looks but it's not much of a upload and the game compresses fairly well due to the file format it uses.)

Come on Chinese people! I want to try the new Korean nation! Smile

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

guys: solved the problem! i just start the game on directx 9 and voilá! everything is awesome smooth. played an entire game with not a single crash or slow down. awesome!

graphically they aren't ANY differences, just little ones, for example the main leaders windows, Montezuma appeared barely iluminated.

(i'm running a gtx 460, that's 100% dx 11.- tho...

weird...

I also have a GTX 460. I run it on 10 and 11. I was getting frequent crashes as well. Since I set the leader screens to low, and everything else to high, no crashes.

GTX 460 here too and with Leaders screens at Medium I am having black textures glitches, pics at spoiler below.

 Spoiler:

At Medium settings, after a leader screens were shown for about 20+ times game crashes and Windows info bubble appears stating nvidia driver has crashed too. After that I am starting to experience glitches in 3D mode - flickering textures, misaligned geometry and in 2D mode - mouse cursor trailing, moving window leaves traces of it. I need to shutdown my machine to reset the GPU, restart doesn't help.

With Leaders screen set at High, same black texture glitches as with Medium setting, but in addition leaders skin turns into grayscale mode after a leader screens were shown 1-3 times, and game and nvidia driver crashes after just a few more such screens. Again only shutdown helps to reset the GPU.

So, I keep Leaders screen at Low setting. And actually it doesn't differ that much from Medium setting, the only exception so far is the Isabela screen, at Low setting background is severely blurred.

Isabela low setting screen

 Spoiler:

Pachacuti low setting screen

 Spoiler:

Surprising that there is such a huge difference, screens share the same concept - flowing background.

EDIT: Added Isabela and Pachacuti screens at low setting.

For Incas, background is just static picture. While Isabella has structure with textures.

I guess if amount of texture memory needed for scene is above some threshold, that image is blued on low settings, to conserve memory. I get it with Babylon, if I set low settings for leaders.

P.S.
I also noticed this setting in GraphicsSettingsDX?.file:

Quote:
; Set to 1 to allow the 'medium' and 'high' leader settings on low-end machines. (DANGER: 256M is probably not enough! Use at your own risk!)
AllowMediumLeadersOnLowEnd = 0

Which would imply that low detail version of leaders screen is optimized for 256MB video cards. Thus supporting my theory that bluing is done to conserve memory, when needed.

Except i've got a 1GB card, it seems more likely that there is some problem with the leader screens and certain cards as a couple people with the same card are having issues

It doesn't matter what card you have. Low settings are scaled for 256MB cards.

P.S.
I'm not talking about issue you have at med/high settings. Just explaining why low setting look the way they look.

I was able to play with Leaders screen at high with initial release. Since that time I have installed Windows updates, latest nvidia drivers and game updates. Somewhere something got broken along the way, and the only way to play now is with Leaders screen at low.

Just tried that I wanted to try for quite some time. I underclocked my GTX 460 1GB to minimum settings possible via msi afterburner to Core Clock: 405 Mhz; Shader Clock: 810 Mhz; Memory Clock: 900 Mhz. In civ 5 video options I disabled AA, set everything to Off / Low settings and Leaders screen to Medium - same black textures glitches at leaders screen. Even tried running game in window mode to no avail.

After reseting GPU to defaults clocks, also tried running game for the first time in DX 9 mode, set everything to maximum possible settings for DX 9 - no black textures glitches at leaders screen Surprised

But in DX 9 there is no AA, and without it game looks awful Sad

Hot-fix released today Smile

Code:
[HOT-FIX]

- "Please Wait" hang. There can be certain situations where an automated or sleeping unit is activated by the presence of an enemy unit. When this happens, the "End Turn" button incorrectly displays "Please Wait" rather than "Unit Needs Orders", giving the player the appearance that the game is hung. This has been corrected.
- Corrections to Korean and Japanese legal screen functionality.

Actually, there was a hint almost 2 weeks ago that there will be hotfix. One of the devs at civfanatics forums made comment about that bug, that it is already fixed in their build, and that it will be released after QA testing (which it looks it took around 2 weeks).

Anyway, it doesn't really affect us "warez" users, since bug was only part of 383 patch, which was not yet cracked.

P.S.
What is interesting is that hotfixed game version is still 1.0.1.383

No, it's a bit odd (Especially what with CEG and that.) but it was just two script files and these four .dll files.

Btw, there's a GOTY package in Steam, so it's quite possible that they may soon release that at the same pricepoint, it was added like 3 weeks ago.

It's the weekend deal on Steam this weekend ($12.50 or $15 for deluxe - no discount on DLC). I wonder if this is their last roll of the dice before the GOTY comes out. Side note, it seems a GOTY was released in Germany only back in March.

I have a problem, playing with AI in one team however he made a defensive pact with one of the remaining nations, and that pact is obligatory for me as well. Thus I cant attack the remaining nation while have that pact (i cant cancel it as well) for a very very very long time.

Perhaps there is a way to modify saves or smoth and change status between nations?
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for this. I picked it up this weekend but of course haven't had time to play it with Dead Island out and just finishing Deus Ex.

As it turns out, a bunch of digital download places had it at this price this weekend (including Amazon who I bought it from just the week before at $16.xx before a $10 gaming credit). Now it's no longer on sale, it's new price on Steam is $29.99.
